  Hey Latte. Last year I took my nephew with me to a barbeque where there was a pinata. (I just love pinatas by the way) Later he told my mom. She laid in to me about letting him hit it. About a month later I saw this article posted on teh forum, so when I was over at their house I nonchalantly picked up the magazine and began "reading" it and just "happened" upon teh article and showed it to her. How ridiculous, if I would have singled my nephew out NOT to join, made him feel bad, and me feel bad, only to have the Society change their view a month later.

  Absolutely I would be DF'd!!! But I've always said that I was greatful for being raised with strict religious morals. It gave a sense of what makes up a "good person". Then when I grew up I was able to have a more balanced view of things.

  the best represented geographical areas on this forum.

  i have not done a formal count, but there sure are a lot of people from those two areas.

  is that because they are extremely large states or is there another reason?

  I think us Californians just have bigger mouths that's all. And since California is such a big state those from Northern Cali and those from Southern Cali are like in two completely different states in my opinion.

  But I gotta second Troof and 151, I know one day I was out pioneer with my little book bag in tow, walked by the public pool, saw a plethora of boobies and forgot everything I had ever learned. NOT!

  p.s. ya'll are in Fresno, you havent seen boobies till you've seen the boobies down here.

  Ban on smoking in public places in the UK and todays news

  ireland having just joined the list of countries banning smoking in public places, it has suddenly got media attention here in the uk.. as some of you know, i gave up smoking for a year and a half ago on a thread on this board.

  i started again, however, i have always, as smoker and non-smoker, believed that such a ban would mean an infingement on your civil liberties and freedom.. then todays news along with a sad story about a 3 year old who died of obesity:.

  obesity has now overtaken smoking as the biggest killer in the uk.. then i wonder, why is this nanny state discussing banning smoking in pubs, when they should be logically banning beer, in light of the new statistics and all the beer belies they show in these news items?

  p.s. California was one of the first states to ban smoking indoors. I personally agree with it. I do enjoy a ciggie when I drink, but thankfully here you simply step outside to smoke. They use undercover police many times to bust bars that are allowing smoking. Some still get away with it, but I for one dont like it. I dont think it's fair for non-smokers who want to come out and enjoy a beer as well. I have no problem stepping outside for a smoke.

  Bite your tounge!

  It would make sense that obesity and smoking would be at the top of preventable causes of death, that's pretty much all we have left now, what with all the breakthroughs in Medical science. It used to be people died from TB and chickenpox, even cancer is quickly no longer being thought of as a death sentence when discovered early enough.

  i listen to a lot of music from the uk, but there's some, i guess slang that i don't completely understand.. raw ramp: as in "you're a raw ramp".

  i have no clue what this means.

  Scotsman, the first time I visited the UK I got a kick out of the grafitti there. I took a picture, all smiles, in front of a building with the word W*nker (rhymes with banker) written in great big letters. When I got my pictures developed I sent copies back to my friends in the UK. I got several phone calls explaining to me what that word meant
