  I'm sure you have already made your mind up about moving in with your friend. I am still young, but it has been my experience that even though a person maybe an adult legally at 18, they are still emotional, and sometimes intelligently, not mature enough to venture out in to the real world. Unless someone is being physically or sexually abused, I think it is best to stay at home as long as possible. I left home at 19, though not by my own will. It was VERY rough. Though I was an exception, and have since sprouted a wonderful life, many times I had oportunities to make decisions that could have drastically affected my outcome.

  Please be mature enough to think this through alot. And SWORD OF JAH...... beware of the wrath of Jah when he judges you for your association with Apostates. Oh yeah, and for using the words Bullshit and Bitch

  In these situations there's no need for a formal testimony. Have your mother write a statement as well for the reasons she believes she shouldn't see them. Don't worry about her attacking your character as it is only a visitation issue, not custody.

  The problem is, unless there is proof of gross character flaws, illegal activities, abuse either sexual or physical, or mental problems, then she does still have a visitation right. Homeless alcoholics still have visitation rights. The tricky thing is getting the court ordered appropriate type of visitation.

  If you write statements, and get a court appointed attorney, then everything should go reasonaby smooth. I doubt there will be any mediation needed, seeing as how custody and gaurdianship is not in question. But bear in mind, it does seem likely that the court would grant her visitation. You may just need to come up with a better compromise

  hey girl! I'm going through a similar situation with my nephew. (he's 5) In fact I was just in court today. If she is the one that is sueing for visitation, she will have to pay the court costs. Many times, if a resolution can't be made initially, the court will appoint the child their own attorney. You don't have to pay anything. I'm not sure about Texas law, but in many states they do have Grandparents rights, and by law do have visitation rights.

  Any reasons you have to believe that it would not be productive for him to be around her, you should write down in a statement to submit to the court. Times that she has been manipulative or made derogatory statements about you and his father, write them down. State only facts, and try to keep emotion and personal opinions out of it as much as possible.

  I don't know any specifics about your situation, but I believe grandparents should have the right to see their grandchildren and vice versa. It seems your son is getting to an age where he should be able to speak up for himself to his grandmother.

  Good luck to you though, and especially to your son. It's rough when these things happen to children at such an early age. Please keep us posted. Also my email is open if you want any info regarding my nephew's case that I am working on right now.

  Truth.... you are a gutsy gal. I know exactly where you are coming from. My leaving was very similar to yours, though not identical. I understand the feeling of loneliness. Sometimes when you're left alone for too long with your own thoughts, you can sometimes think up drastic desicions. I can guarantee you that THINGS WILL GET BETTER. I know you may not see an end to it at this moment, but in time things will change. they always do. Then eventually down the line, you'll look back at the moment when you were feeling this way, and it will be a distant memory. Even though you are still young like myself, you have an old soul. You should be very proud of the things you have accomplished thus far.

  I got counseled for EVERYTHING

  * Hair too short (wasn't feminine enough for service)

  *driving too fast in the parking lot

  *taking my English Witness friends to visit Las Vegas when they were out here

  * patting my fiancee's butt at a family gathering

  * Wearing a "vintage 50's style" I was trying to draw attention to myself apparently

  * getting a ride to college from a single brother when my car broke down on the way there.

  * being the only girl in the dark on the beach with 5 of my male witness friends during a congregation picnic.

  * Bringing a King James bible to the meetings

  * Researching with books that weren't provided by the society

  * Spending too much time at the gym

  ........... the list goes on and on
