At a quick glance, I thought your title read "broads".....I really wanted to see where that thread would go.

Are there any pro jehovah witness boards on the net left?
by unbeliever ini remember the good old days when jwzone, greatcrowd, purelanguagenetwork, sister soup, and witnessworld were around.
there were quite a few of us that managed to gain membership to those boards and tried to "witness" and would copy/paste over here..

Christmas, the worst time of year for Jehovah's Witnesses
by koolaid-man inthe holidays are here and they certainly do present a problem for jehovah's witnesses once again.
christmas parties at work, getting christmas bonuses, dealing with holiday greetings, christmas carols, decorated trees and houses, santa claus everywhere, christmas candy, sleighbells ringing brings the witnesses into a very troubling and disturbing time of year.how do most witnesses handle it all?
we will be discussing these questions with former witnesses and active witnesses on the conference call this saturday night, december 19,2009 at 7 p.m. the conference call is presented like a radio talk show program.

Did you guys not read the latest....according to the God's Love book it is a conscience matter if someone wants to accept a Christmas gift or bonus. It's up to you to discern what the intentions of the giver was.
Mouthy, don't be so hard on yourself. My mom pretty much shoved the "truth" down our throats and is still an active member, but I have no ill feelings towards her, because i realize that what she did, she did because she loved me immensly. When you raised your family to be JW's you did it because you thought you were giving them a chance to live forever.

When my wife had our second we didn't go to the meetings for 3 weeks. In that span, out of 100 people, we had one person visit. And this was when I was an MS and doing quite a bit for the cong. A real eye opener!! It's what finally convinced me that I was definitely in the wrong place.

Good point JWoods, but they have to figure, that the more die especially young ones, the greater the risk that governments get involved. Which could result in more situations like the one in Russia.

In your opinion, do you think that the leaders of the WTS(whether it's the GB or lawyers) view the death of a JW refusing blood as a good witness to the public, or do you think they view it as bad press? I'm kind of torn between the 2.

The other argument I've heard used, is that celebrating ones birthday brings unwarranted attention to the individual rather than god. Well anniversaries bring the same attention to a couple that an individual would receive on their birthday, would you not agree?.

Praying for holy spirit
by JWinprotest insince i'm in a complaining mood, i'll just throw one more in there.. one of the brothers praying at my circuit assembly said, "jehovah may your holy spirit continue to operate on the faithful and discreet slave.".
i thought, what a stupid thing to pray for.
if these guys are already ordained by god, why would we have to pray to god to ask him to continue supplying them with holy spirit, by their standard these guys should never lose it.. alright, that's it for today.. .

This past weekend I attended the circuit assembly, and on the Sunday they were interviewing a couple on the secrets to a successful marriage. The first question asked by the speaker was, "how long have you 2 been married?" The reply was 20 years....and 1 day. The speaker then says, "Happy Anniversary!!" and the audience applauds.
I always felt very strongly, even back when I was a full blown JW, that birthdays and anniversaries were exactly the same, and that they should either, both be cancelled, or both be celebrated. But when I heard the speaker wishing them a happy anniversary, it made me angry that everyone hearing that wish didn't connect the 2 celebrations, just because someone didn't lose their head celebrating an anniversary in the bible.
Anyways, just my rant for the day.......carry on!

This may be the first step to mainstreaming as so many on here have predicted.
They will soften their view on many issues, to win back Russia's favor and to stop other countries close to Russia from following suit.
