What a blast they had! I have a 6 year old and a 3 year old, and my oldest really put pressure on me to go out this year. Boy am I glad she did. What a dick I've been to deny them this small joy for this long. My wife and I still felt squimish about staying in the neighborhood, so we went to my friends area 15 min away. He's got kids the same age as mine.

I had my friend in stitches at one point. He commented that my kids looked like they've been doing this for years. I said, well, we get a lot of practice going door to door.

I am not looking forward to the moment when my kids blab to our JW family members that they went out for Halloween. Oh well!!

it's been a while since the society has been specific about what kind of music to avoid hasn't it?.

the last i remember was when the said to stay away from rap and heavy metal.

What silly things have you been counselled on or simply been told off for?

so what silly things have you been counselled on or simply been told off for?.

back in my early 20's, i had a pair of comfy old jeans that started to tear in about 3 places on the leg.

it was the fashion at the time so not only did they feel great to wear, they also looked 'in', not that i cared for that, but it was a bonus .

Oh I have one more, once I refused to take gas money from a 70 year old sister who was just scrapping by. After she left my car, an elder in my cong told me off for not taking it. He said we should always accept gas money even if we don't need it, because it encourages them to keep giving, and there are those in the cong that depend on donated gas money. The problem is, at least in this cong it was, that it was only the poor ones that kept offering.

In the 80's they took the microphones away from me because I was growing a mullet. That alone proves they are directed by holy spirit, because they knew mullets were wrong before anyone else did.

here are some things that came from the mouth of the district overseer over the course of the two days.

1. the recession isn't going to end.

things are screwed because the demons are controlling the world.

The WTS hates new technology because everytime the world upgrades something, it means they have to spend thousands of dollars upgrading their material. The World invents VCR's, the WTS has to make videos to keep up, the world invents dvd's, mp3, high resolution tv's, and they have to keep up, otherwise none of the younger crowds will touch their stuff. And this costs them $$$

Abuse of Authority and Tax Exemptions in the WT Organization

i will relay this as hearsay as i was not personally involved, but perhaps some of you can personally attest to such abuses for the apologists out there.. even this "hearsay" was verified by another person who was involved to some extent.. this spanish former elder told a two-fold story about abuse of authority and abuse of the tax exemption that wts has.. tax exemption- his story was about how, in the building of an assembly hall in illinois, the people in charge of various portions of the project bought materials and automobiles with the tax exemption number given to them.

among their materials and automobiles were materials and automobiles for their home and personal use.

he then went on to describe the situation a double kingdom hall with six spanish congregations found itself in.

This story sounds awfully familiar, I know I've read this somewhere before. I've been on so many websites though, I'd never be able to recall.

Did you throw ALOTS of old WT/AW magazines in the trash while you were a loyal dub?

I threw out a lot of magazines, and always felt guilty that I didn't recycle. Our recycling bin is open and I was paranoid that the JW's in service would see them in there.
