hey noni noni ( how the mornons got the jw's to work for them)
by highdose ini've no idea if this health craze is still current in the borg land.. but it started with the moroms in utah setting up a health drink company.
it took the form of a mlm and they quickly farmed it out to the jw's who jumped all over it.
at one point everyone i knew was buying this very expensive drink, those mormons must have been rolling in the cash!.

I remember the late 90's there was an elder in my cong who was putting some heavy pressure on members to buy this juice. My mom finally gave in just to get him off her back, cause he was real aggresive. The claims he was making about the juice were pretty stupid....the final straw was when he told us it can make hair grow back.......he was as bald as an eagle.
But you're right. One day, it just stopped and he never brought it up again.

I know it's not good to stereotype, but come on!!
by JWinprotest inyesterday's bookstudy was about the value of hard work, and on page 175 they have 3 pictures of good jw examples who are working hard.. one picture is of a woman working in an office environment, and i think it's an office at bethel.
the second is of a woman in africa carrying a bundle of sticks on her head.
and the third is of a brother, get this........washing windows!!!!

Yeah or maybe a picture of a brother or sister doing one of the less glamorous jobs at Bethel, like cleaning all the stains off the toilets.

who was your first non jw friend
by rockmehardplace insince i was not raised in the "truth", i have been able to reconnect with many older friends that i left behind.
one in particular is very close to me and we now get together about once a week for dinner or drinks.
his wife and my wife have also become very close as well.

I was raised in the "truth", but fortunately for me I made friends everywhere I went, right from kindergarden. It didn't take me long to figure out that what they said about wordly kids versus JW kids was pure BS.

Are there any pro jehovah witness boards on the net left?
by unbeliever ini remember the good old days when jwzone, greatcrowd, purelanguagenetwork, sister soup, and witnessworld were around.
there were quite a few of us that managed to gain membership to those boards and tried to "witness" and would copy/paste over here..

At a quick glance, I thought your title read "broads".....I really wanted to see where that thread would go.

Christmas, the worst time of year for Jehovah's Witnesses
by koolaid-man inthe holidays are here and they certainly do present a problem for jehovah's witnesses once again.
christmas parties at work, getting christmas bonuses, dealing with holiday greetings, christmas carols, decorated trees and houses, santa claus everywhere, christmas candy, sleighbells ringing brings the witnesses into a very troubling and disturbing time of year.how do most witnesses handle it all?
we will be discussing these questions with former witnesses and active witnesses on the conference call this saturday night, december 19,2009 at 7 p.m. the conference call is presented like a radio talk show program.

Did you guys not read the latest....according to the God's Love book it is a conscience matter if someone wants to accept a Christmas gift or bonus. It's up to you to discern what the intentions of the giver was.
Mouthy, don't be so hard on yourself. My mom pretty much shoved the "truth" down our throats and is still an active member, but I have no ill feelings towards her, because i realize that what she did, she did because she loved me immensly. When you raised your family to be JW's you did it because you thought you were giving them a chance to live forever.

Nobody from her church visited her - Jan 2010 WT study experience
by truthseeker ini find paragraph 20 quite interesting in the jan 2010 study article.
http://download.jw.org/files/media_magazines/w_f-st_e_20100115.pdf.
"prove to be a real follower of christ".

When my wife had our second we didn't go to the meetings for 3 weeks. In that span, out of 100 people, we had one person visit. And this was when I was an MS and doing quite a bit for the cong. A real eye opener!! It's what finally convinced me that I was definitely in the wrong place.

Another JW dies... (blood issue)
by xcellxior inhorrible.
another life gone because of stupid ot biblical rules.. http://www.independent.ie/national-news/refusing-blood-cost-jehovahrsquos-witness-her-life-1980879.html.
absolutely horrible... perhaps more so because it is so close to home..

Good point JWoods, but they have to figure, that the more die especially young ones, the greater the risk that governments get involved. Which could result in more situations like the one in Russia.

In your opinion, do you think that the leaders of the WTS(whether it's the GB or lawyers) view the death of a JW refusing blood as a good witness to the public, or do you think they view it as bad press? I'm kind of torn between the 2.
