So was Jeremiah obedient when told to quit his "preaching" by the religious leaders of his day?
Great point blondie.
theme was something about "loyalty to jehovah's visible organization".. i have neither the time nor inclination to summarize the whole thing, but a few points stood out:.
even if it causes you personal hardship.
example: joshua & caleb returned from spy trip to promised land with good report, but were "outvoted" by the other 10 spies.

so sad.
how can you even hold a 5-year-old accountable for anything, anyways?.
How do you know they haven't? Just because it wasn't reported in the papers?
The fact that the Society's lawyers bailed him out of jail shows they support what he did....IMO.
it used to be like 130/75 and now it's 98-102 over 65-70.. .
I also have a stomach condition to which no cure exists.....however I have been symptom free since giving up my "priveleages"(slave labour).
i was watching youtube clips last night of old game shows, the gong show was one of them.
made me think how wonderful it would be if the meetings had a similar theme........don't like the speaker?
get up and smash the gong.

Get up and smash the gong. Not sure if everyone in the audience should be allowed to hit the gong, or should we try to maintain some sort of Theocratic order and have someone designated to do it based on the audience's reaction, s ort of like a school oversear. What do you think?
i was shopping the other day and heard my name called.
it's the elder that visited us last year, the one who was very concerned that we celebrated birthdays.. with a guilty expression on his face, he apologised for not having had time to see us then told me "we miss you, when are you coming back?".
i said nothing.. i can't stand the phrase "we miss you" - what's wrong with these people?
Wow! What timing on this thread. A couple of weeks ago 2 elders from my cong came to visit me, since I haven't been to a meeting in 3 months. One elder I've known for quite some time, and is actually a good person. The other just moved into the territory and I've never met.
To make a long story short, when they asked me why I don't attend anymore, I told them that one of the reasons is because we've been away for so long that we feel awkward going back now and having people tell us how much they miss us.
Well, this elder, that I've never met before says, "they say that because they genuinely miss you". I replied, "yeah right". He then says, "well I miss you, and I'm being genuine".
I wanted to say, "WHAT THE HELL IS YOUR NAME!?!?!?" But I didn't, I just cowardly said thank you.
Their words are so empty and insincere.
collecting money after every meeting.
i could never get someone to help, and i was always last to leave.
when i did finally have one person who would help, if i used them too often i got questions about why the two of us were always taking the contributions.
I have to agree with the account servant. Definately the task that takes up a lot of you're time away from the KH as well. Reconciling, bank deposits, adminstrative stuff.....it's endless. And you're right, almost impossible to get anyone to help you count. The elders would avoid you like the plague at the end of the meetings. I especially loved it when I needed signatures from the PO or the Secretary, and they acted like they were too busy to sign a fricken sheet of paper. All this while your wife is ragging on you because she's dying to go home....and believe me, I don't blame her.
today i was remembering how angry i used to get at the meetings and all the little irritations that in the end would just make my blood boil these included:.
prayers that go on foreverstudy or wt conductors still taking comments when its clear that the point has been covered 20 times alreadymeetings over running by more than 5 minsmy favourite was this one elder who would play guess the point i am thinking of.
he would keep rephrasing the question from the wt until someone would bring up the point he was thinking of.
The brother who thought he was demonstrating his strong love for others by squeezing the s!#t out of their hand as he shook it.
People who don't have kids giving you advise on how to train your children to sit quietly for 2 hours. Advise usually consists of implying that you don't have a good family study routine at home.
The Elder in my cong. that said parents should start studying the Bible Teaches book with their children as early as 2 yrs old.(of course no children of his own).
i don't have conclusive evidence yet, but i'm pretty sure that my mom and siblings are asking my 5 yr old questions to find things out, such as, whether we attend meetings or not, if we celebrate holidays, do we go in service etc.. maybe i'm just being paranoid.....but i don't think so..
Nugget said, "be aware that now the cat is well and truly out of the bag "
My 2 year old can't see cake or pastries without yelling Happy Birthday!!.....pretty sure they know something is up, but they're too gutless to ask me themselves.

Carla/Scully, you are absolutely right, and if I thought this would have any effect on my child I would intervene immediately. Right now it appears to be harmless stuff, for example, we were at a family gathering the other day, and my brother's kid is talking with mine. All of a sudden my nephew, in a loud voice that everyone can hear, says to his dad, "daddy, #$%^&&^ says she doesn't go to meetings".
Now, I believe that my brother coached his son to ask the question, I can't see that just coming up in conversation between two kids that age. The reason I suspect this is because I've been dropping the hints pretty hard that I don't go, and 2 days earlier, my brothers jaw hit the floor when my child told everyone that we got a visit from the tooth fairy. Also, the way he told his dad....it was as if he was reporting back.
That's just one example. Like I said, I've been dropping a lot of hints, so I think they're starting to snoop around.
