Thanks Mouthy. I think I agree. I just thought maybe I was being selfish. It feels like it just leaves an opportunity to leave whenever one wants. Oh, I don't know. Obviously I must not be ready, huh?

So I have been seeing this great "worldly" guy for about 8 months. He has been married twice, and I have been married once for 13 years. We both had bad marital experiences. Anyways, he wants me and my kids to just MOVE IN. I rented a townhome for a year first. I think I am buying my time. I want to KNOW that I am making the right choice. I have eight months left on my lease.
The problem is that he never talks about getting married. Granted, I am a little gunshy myslef. Really, living together would be ideal if it wasn't for all the stigma attached to it.
1. It feels dirty for some reason. Right now people just speculate as to what we do alone. Living together announces it.
2. It is so hard on my kids. I think they would lose respect for me.
3. Small town, ex-JW, parents, family and friends still in the Borg...That's alot to dodge.
So how do you decide if this is an area that needs to be reconditioned? What I mean is, "Do I have this stigma attached to it because I was a JW?" Or is this just good moral makeup? Has anybody else gone through this?

Too bad our daughter was born....
by Albert Einstein in"too bad our daughter was born...., otherwise we could jehovah more fully.... ".
thats what on many occasions our long time family friend (an elder) told us.
believe it or not, they were saying this in her presence (she was 16 at the time)!!!.

I once had a sister come up to me after my daughter was just born and said she thought it was not a bright idea that I be bearing children, because during the big A, I would probably have to witness by daughter being tortured for my faith. What happened to congratulations?

what was the worst advice you were ever given
by rockmehardplace ini was that one way to increase my field service time for me and my wife was by standing at a truck stop and hand out tapes to truckers in the early mornings.
this is the same lot that is frequented by drug dealers and hookers.
another time, while studying, i said i did not understand the blood issue.

My Mother Says Matter of Factly "You're Gonna Die At Armageddon"

I love that you have a sense of humor about that statement. I got that one too. Oh wait...my kids are gonna die too. And it's all my fault.
I think it's a great idea to store that information away for inspiration to move on.

Missing School Functions
by WTWizard ini know that the witlesses are not supposed to go to many school activities.
these include after-school sports and competitions, scouting, and other extra-curricular activities and class trips that may last beyond school hours.
the most cited excuses (flimsy they may be) are bad associations, the money, time, and the possibility of compromise.. now, i wonder how many people have missed field trips that happened during normal school hours because of being witlesses.

I was not allowed to go on any overnight field trips while I was growing up. I guess it was the bad association, and missing meetings they were worried about. Funny sidepoint: My older sister babysat alot of my friends growing up. I was always allowed to play with them. Sometimes we had the kids overnight. I think I had my doses of bad association within my home. You know those kids were dangerous with all their care bears and Smurf toys.

Can we pick Jesus? He would make an awesome QB. Plus we wouldn't have to subject him to random drug testing.

Donating Blood
by vikesgirl101 inokay, so i am guessing this has been posted in the past, but not recently.. after removing myself from the influence of the org, i wanted to do something different to symbolize drift.
i am thinking about donating blood.
the reason is not just symbolic, but i heard it can save up to like 25 lives.

Theocratic Lurker spies
by vikesgirl101 ini have read a few threads that speak of lurking spies for the jw that watch this website.
is this true?
i really don't have a problem with that, but to me it appears entirely sacreligious from what they preach.

For me it shows how sneaky and double sided some of these people can be. They can DF me, I could care less. I welcome it. But I have heard that the elders here in my town are notorious for following faders to see what they are up to. I think stalking is unethical under ANY circumstance. I know this cong isn't the only one that has done that. I talked to an ex JW last week from this forum, and she said they followed her too. She is in another time zone than me. That is creepy. But when or if they come on here to catch someone, they aren't following their own advice.
