I'm sure I read on here once that they have paid for some dubs to go to law school.

How often does a Wt song run through your head
by Lady Lee inyesterday i was sitting here and all of a sudden realized i was humming one of those dreadful songs.
i even remembered the words!
<chills>.. so i sat here and started singing other songs out loud, which i normally don't do even though i live alone and don't have to listen to people begging me to stop singing.. so how do you get those songs out of your head?.

I've been watching quite a bit of the world cup and noticed that quite a lot of the anthems sound very similar to some of the kingdom maladies.
Is it just me or do others hear the similarity?

by sweet pea in.
currently we don't have family health insurance here in the us.
could you please recommend a good company/plan that deals with the self-insured?.

Cognitive disonence at work...?
by Aussie Oz ini was watching a documentary the other week on a notorious crime boss from the 50s into the 80s.. one part of the story was from his son (by his wife) and the other from his daughter (by his mistress).. what struck me was that the daughter was totally unable to see that her 'daddy' was some sort of criminal.
no matter what evidence there was from media, courts and witnesses to the cruel deeds of this man.. her half brother was simply lying for some reasons only known to him, some hidden agenda she did not know.. because she had only ever seen and experienced his loving side, it was not possible for her to consider anything else.. this got me thinking:.
if a jw has only ever seen and experienced loving elders, guidance and a really happy jw upbringing, only known the 'good side' (and i am sure there are quite a few that have had charmed lives) then it will impossible for them to even conceive the notion that there is a 'bad side'.. on the flip side, if a jw has only experienced hitler elders, abuse and seen only double standards and lies, then they too will be unable to see the 'good side' for want of a better word.

I think you're right. It's probably the reason why my parents don't try and force JWism on me.
They have both experienced the coldness and unloving nature of elders and congregations and whilst they are still true believers (50 years plus each) they appreciate that because of what I've experienced it made me leave and that I have no plans to return.

SO sad! The elders never cease to amaze me...
by babygirl30 inon fb yesterday, an old friend of mine 'friended' me....and once again, i was hesitant to actually accept because i didn't know how she would feel about me being df'd.
but i accepted, and she sent me a msg.
well we ended up talking back and forth for awhile, and found out that she lives right around the corner from me!!!!!!!!!!

Happy ending though - both of you are out of the org but what a thing to go through. Stories like this make me feel so sick and angry!

I can't remember whats in that book that you're studying but I recall from the previous indoctrination book, the knowledge book that the final chapters really raise the baptism, meeting attendance things.
When you get to that chapter ask what would happen if you joined and then decided to leave? I'm with the previous poster on asking about disfellowshipping.

by dozy inwhen i was leaving the jws , i often used to read "testimonies" from ex-mormons & was often struck by how similar they were to my experience.

I had a colleague who had been brought up a Morm but had never been baptised or become a fully fledged member. I always remember her telling me that her sister had and had then got pregnant and was a single mother and how the Mormons had all ignored her and wouldn't have anything to do with her. I told her that I thought that was bad as this was a really tough thing for her.
Little did I realise that it was very similar to the shunnign that goes on with JWs. I suppose that was one of my first thoughts that shunning DF'd people was wrong.

The original story was in the Daily Star. I would give no credibility to this newspaper at all! It is a trashy paper through and through! Funny that its not been reported anywhere else......
