  is my baptisum as a minor vaild?

  as a young minor, barely into my teens i was in a congo that had extreme peer pressure to get baptized.

  in fact you were seen as a bad person if you didn't, and everyone else my age was, the threat was that if you were the last to get baptized of your generation then you would be seen as unspiritual.. this and some other things have troubled me since:.

  when i came to be baptized i was suffering from an illness that greatly affected my concentration.. when it came to the assembly and i had to stand and answer those two questions i was shaking so much i didn't actauly say anything, in fact my mouth wouldn't open.. i am totaly sure that if i had waited until age 30 to get baptized as jesus did, i never would have got baptized at all.. so my question is: was my baptisum actualy vaild?

  "confess to the elders my misdemenour"? i never thought of it as a misdemenour, maybe they would?

  i don't intend going to some stuffy elders to be told off, looked down on, and generaly made to feel worthless, this question is for my own mental well being... which frankly is just as important, if not more so.

  I was baptised at the time when there was alot of talk about how JW's children were alot more mature than wordly ones and that therefore they were bascaily "mini adults" and capable of making a decision about blood and wether to get baptised. as a adult now, i can see that this is total rubbish!

  he did so much for this organization.

  as an accomplished musician and composer, he has contributed so much over the years.his work is in most of the homes of an avg jw.

  just thought this article was interesting in view of what has been said in the last couple of years on the forum about the declining number of elders and servants and those reaching out.

  add to that the large percentage of young teenage boys who leave 'the truth'.

  i can't ever remember this much space in a km being devoted to converting men.. para 2 states: "when a family head accepts the truth, he often influences others in the family to join him in pure worship".

  i know paul said they were to be totally silent at meetings and jw's found a way to throw out the idea.....but where do all these weird rules for the ladies actually come from.....most are not in print but they are just an accepted idea?

  all elders just seem to know it and do sisters ever ask to do something only the guys do?.

  they can clean toilets, but not carry a clean mic?......nice.......they can pull weeds all day in the kh flower bed, but cant hand out territories or literature?.....but they can work full time at bethel in even special fields like law and medical field........and do all kinds of major work at quickbuilds and assembly halls........ also......tongues of fire hit the sistas in the upper room filled with 120.....they could speak in tongues, heal, and even prophesy!!

  hi michwich, yes swine flu is raging, but is giving me the chance to catch up on here:)

  i can remember seeing my mother conduct a study with a man, she got out a head scarf and tied in on her head... i could see from the guys expression that he was totaly freaked out and had decided he wanted nothing to do with such a crazy religon!

  shame that dubs are not able to see themselves as others do, but then i suppose that would break the spell?

  ok so i have a theory...

  the borg is run along the theme of bullying, one of the favorite choices for this is women, give them the same rights as the brothers and you won't be able to pick on them or look down your nose at them anymore, and wouldn't that be a shame?(!)

  i don't have the answer i'm afraid, i can only cite the one time i questioned the double standards for sisters rule:

  i asked "An alpha sister" why we could not wear trousers since actualy it would solve alot of the issues about imodest dress and all women these days wore them? She agreed that there was no actual scriptural reason why sisters could not wear trousers, but then advised me not to make my views public or to encourge the sisters to wear trousers because "it might make the sisters want to take over other things, and the brothers take such good care of us!"

  ever notice how the "happiest people on earth" are also the most class-oriented?

  to say that jesus said his followers should all be on equal footing, it's incredible how much the r&f witness is not on equal footing.

  the social structure in the congregation is more complex than the blueprints of a nuclear warhead, but just so that you "remember your place", see if you can find where your niche was/is:

  in my experiance of the UK this is exactly how the congo is set up, mary has nailed it so exactly its amazing! she could be writing about any of the congos i've ever been in!

  i was the bottom of the pile btw, a woman, part of a single parent family who worked and worst of all, i only went and got a uni education! then to add insult to injury i went and got a well paid job after that.

  i can still remember 2 sisters who were pioneers and cleaned windows/houses part time, they used to interigate me at every meeting, " how much had i earnt that week? how much did my shoes cost?" they always hated the answer and turned green...

  it used to make me feel gulity, but now i just laugh... hhahahahahaha!
