  Reaching Out

  did any of you guys ever try to "spiritually advance" by really making an effort in reaching out,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,.

  only to be overlooked while some other brother who was honestly just a brown-noser or genuine hypocrite gets appointed.

  without hardly any effort on his part?.

  My father was overlooked for many many years, there was always something he had to work on just like lancelink even though he was hard working & absolutely honest in his dealings. He eventually 'made the grade' & became a MS.

  Other men were appointed ahead of him that eventually caused the congregation several problems, one elder was caught claiming unemployment benefit whilst working.

  However out of the blue at one meeting an anouncement was made that I had been made a MS. I was totally stunned as no one had approached me to see how I felt about it!

  Also I couldn't understand how a young gay man & habitual wanker like me could've been selected by 'holy spirit' when my father had struggled for so many years to make the grade.

  2009 Drama Synopsis and Comments

  this year's drama was based on the parable of the prodigal son.

  the theme was "your brother was dead and came to life".

  as some have probably heard, it is a modern day story based on that parable, so there are no fancy costumes or fake beards.. .

  Its not new the WTBTS 'trying to keep the kids at home'.

  Sometime after I had bought my first home in 1978 ( I was 23) there was a portion of an assembly that said the only reason for a young person to leave home was to get married.

  I wasn't married & bro's & sisters in my cong' took it for granted I would obey the direction, sell up & go back to live with my parents!!

  The Watchtower stand that whole blood & major components of blood are out, but fractions of these components is OK is totally illogical.

  However the insistance of some in the medical field that blood & ONLY BLOOD will do, is also illogical & probably caused as much time wasting in this case as the insistance on the part of the patient that bloodless treatment be used.

  Can ya tell what tune it is yet????

  I remember a letter was sent to all the congregations berating us for our lack of appreciation of the clear 'bell' like tones of the plonky piano that replaced orchestral arrangements which helped lift our lousy singing. We were told we should appreciate all the hard work put into providing recordings for us to sing to & not criticise (have an opinion) what the society provide.

  Are the new song recordings still piano?

  when using a public restroom, how do you feel when a complete stranger pulls into the urinal right next to you and starts up a conversation with you?

  do you feel indifferent, slightly uncomfortable, or violated?.

  or are you one of the weirdos who does this?.

  The wall hung urinals at our assembly hall have no 'modesty' panels between them & they are rather close together.

  I have great difficulty using them so try to go during the sessions when they are not too busy.

  I hate it when you just manage to get going & a little kid comes & uses the next watering hole to you & just gawps at your 'member'.

  I resent having my nice clean suit splashed by a brother that pees like a horse & then having to sit for the rest of the day knowing his piss is on me!!

  How many of you have seen situations where the ELDERS DISAGREED?

  i have spent literally hundreds of hours discussing with the c.o.

  or other elders how some of us elders disagreed with a certain elders' actions and what could be done about it.

  or that a certain elder was doing a certain thing, or acting a certain way.

  When I was a ministerial servant I went to an elders meeting... ......you know, the bit of the meeting before elders really get down to business & the mini's are expected to leave.

  I had never experienced one of these meetings before & went with my father, at the time also a mini'.

  It was an eye opener.............the rivallry between them & one upmanship was very disappointing. I said to my father I will not be going to another.

  Soon after I told them I did not want to be a mini'.

  These men apppointed by Jehovah???

  It is just not true!

  Many of them are way out of their depth, many like to have a position of authority they would never attain in the 'world' outside the WT, some are just outright bullies.

  If you are very 'blessed' you may have a man that is a wonderful elder, but they are few & far between.

  My heart goes out to you.

  Also thanks for the welcome MidwichCuckoo................I'm in the UK too, 'inactive' but still attending some meetings.

  I'm lucky that despite 50years in the 'truth' the whole of my immediate family are aware that something is radically wrong with the Org' & can have deep intelligent discussions about it.

  Our conclusion is that neither the Org,' the GB, the FDS, no one is going to come between us & Jehovah. It is not easy but we are all happier stepping back from the machinations of the Watchtower world & watching what happens.

  I had NO choice at the age of 7 whether I wanted to be a JW when my parents became JW's.

  Under peer pressure & being an idealistic young person I was baptised at 15.

  I now know I was not old enough to make that decision.

  I have no choice over being gay, however I do, no matter how difficult, have a choice whether to resist those feelings or not.

  By the way renniaa I only 'know' you from the comments you make here & I must say you annoy me intensely with your 'super fine' out pourings.

  I was raised in the WT from the age of 7, I am now in my mid 50's

  I am also a celibate gay man.

  Jehovah has NEVER helped me eradicate this..........none of his 'shepherds' had the answers. They just told me to 'do more bible study, more field service, more meetings, more talks, just throw yourself into the truth & lean on Jehovah'

  Most of them just cannot comprehend how man could find complete happiness in the arms of another man.

  So it was always a lack of something on My part that prevented Jehovah's spirit helping me be the way the WT said I should be.

  One well meaning elder thought if I just put my 'toes in the water as Moses had to at the Red Sea' & allowed myself to become aquainted with a female I would find Jehovah's blessing on the relationship.

  I entered into one of the most disastrous episodes of my life.

  And guess what, big ole Jah still wasn't there to help!!!

  i've always hated story #53: "jepthah's promise".

  i always felt sorry for the daughter who had to spend the rest of her days at the tabernacle because her father made a numb-nuts promise to god.

  who did he think he was, making promises for other people?

  When I first saw this book after it's release, I thought there were way too many illustrations depicting anger & violence.

  Totally unsuitable pictures for a young child's mind to dwell on as mummy or daddy reads the 'nice' bible stories.

  Glad I now know I'm not alone in this view.
