  God and Suffering

  a few weeks back, in the midst of the haiti tragedy, much discussion took place in cyberland about the tolerance [or indeed the insistence on] suffering by a loving god.

  the furor over haiti has settled a bit [as unfortunately most tragedy is wont to do far too quickly in the human mind], but this persistent matter continues to chew at my subconscience.

  I've always found these bible verses perplexing.

  I have to believe God will answer my prayers for help even though I know in my heart he probably wont,.................my reasoning being, if he hears the agonized screams of babies & tiny children being raped & abused for disgusting child porn & ignores them then he's sure as hell not gonna bother with me.

  my votes for worst kingdom melody lyrics: song 125- "jehovah is on my side" (try singing these lyrics without laughing like beavis and butthead): "i know that in this crucial hour my faith will yet be tested/ around me swarms the devil's crowd like bees that were molested/ but i can ever beat them off beneath divine protection/ on those who love to bear his name god sets his deep affection.

  " or how about song 201- "rejoicing with god's nation" (grab your thesaurus for this one): "in a land so good and spacious/ free from strife and things vexatious/ look!

  a happy crowd vivacious/ in god's service that is efficacious.

  What about the song with the lyrics 'Vigour & Vim'..................these are 2 cleaning products in the UK.

  Also the one that says.....'In integrity I've trod'..................better look for something to scrape it off your shoe.

  "Youth book" said 97% of teenagers Masturbate...but none of them are Witnesses! Is this unrealistic?

  "youth" book and "young people ask" admitts that 97% boys and 92% of girls masturbate but of course none of the holy decent witness teenagers would ever do such a thing and earn jehovahs anger!

  how realistic is this?

  As a teenager wracked with guilt because I 'weakly gave in to the unclean habit of 'SELF ABUSE' I used to pray to God to kill me if I did it again.

  Now tell me what was more harmful............having a tug, enjoying it & getting on with life or feeling so bad about it you struggle with suicidal thoughts because God's gonna kill you anyway.

  Those stupid old coggers in Brooklyn have so much bloodguilt on their hands & they don't even realise it!!

  Out of Left Field...Strange things you were told by elders

  just curious if the crazy was limited to my town or not.. i remember and elder, during a talk about everyone being resurrected that it included all the babies that had miscarried or were aborted, because the big j knew what their hearts were.

  after the meeting, he was telling a couple of us how it also disturbed him that his wife would have to carry someone elses babies and he would be raising someone elses children.. another elder said that we would colonize other planets, and that since the bible never said the big j didn't make other inhabited worlds that there was a whole universe of planets to colonize after armageddon.. anyone else hear crazy crap like this?.

  As children we quite enjoyed Ernie Beaver's & Roy Nicholls' visits.

  No time for Jim Buckingham though, tried to talk to him when I was a teenager about the 'disgusting habit of SELF ABUSE' I was struggling with & he had no time for me................I thought if the CO felt that way then Jehovah must feel that way about me too..........I was suicidal.

  Does anybody else feel relieved that they won't be tortured during the great tribulation?

  i grew up hearing about different ways people have been tortured in the past and was always scared of going through that during the gt.

  it was always an unhealthy obsession of mine.

  i always thought that i was more worried about it than other jws and that i would end up renouncing my faith to get out of it.

  Injuries at Assemblies, who covers the cost

  well, i knew it would happen, and i wasn't surprised when it did.. a friend of mine, older brother with a heart condition, was assisting in shoveling snow at the circuit assembly this weekend (suit and tie, no less!

  ) and slipped on the ice and cracked a couple of his ribs.. what is the likelihood that the circuit or society will assist or cover his medical bills?

  any takers on this?.

  When I attended a pre-assembly meeting for volunteers at one of the kingdon halls local to the assembly site, we were told all the ins & outs of how to handle the brothers & sisters & emergency crowd control, dealing with vehicles if assigned to the car parks etc.

  When I asked about what insurance the society had for the volunteers, the look on the assembly organizers faces said it all............there was NONE!!

  No body on the platform had any idea what to say & tried to make me seem silly for asking such a question.

  Yet again I seemed a trouble maker.
