God's Pharmacy!
by Chalam ingod's pharmacy is amazing!.
it's been said that god first separated the salt water from the fresh, made dry land, planted a garden, made animals and fish... all before making a human.
god made and provided what we'd need before we were born.

If You Could Go Back In Time ...
by Big Tex inassuming you could go back in time, and knowing what you know now, is there anything the 2009 you could say to that person you were while you were one of jehovah's witnesses, that would have gotten you out earlier, or easier?.
in other words, have you learned anything now, or while you were exiting, that would have made a difference to you while you were a witness?
and would it make any difference?

I would explain the concept of logical fallacies to myself. So often I saw arguments where I thought, "I agree with the conclusion, but not the way they came to the conclusion. I couldn't use that argument with someone and expect them to believe it." I would go back and ask myself why I believed it just because the society said so. I would encourage myself to ask questions rather than take the given answers for granted and I'm pretty sure I would have listened.

The small mental world of j-dubs
by Psychotic Parrot ini will have a conversation with a j-dub in which i will attempt to understand why they are so certain that they are in the troof.
the conversation will usually involve myself asking them how they know they are the true christian religion.. the answer?
"we are the only ones doing god's will!".

This is the issue I have as well. You can convince me the Bible supports just about any belief. But in order for that to matter, you must first convince me that the Bible has the authority to determine what my beliefs should be. How do these people expect to convert Buddhists, Muslims, pagans, etc?

need help finding a scripture
by 504deist ini'm looking for a scripture i know i've read before.
i'm not sure how it was worded, but, it basically says that there would be people that persecute individuals that ask questions, and they would do this in the name of god.

I can only think of John 16:2:
They will put you out of the synagogue; in fact, a time is coming when anyone who kills you will think he is offering a service to God. -

How much age difference
by John Doe inis socially acceptable for dating people?
is there a double standard?.

This has always been a touchy subject for me. I watched my mother throughout her late thirthies/early forties be unable to get a date while jw men in their forties were marrying twenty year olds. Pisses me off. When I went on witness dating sites, the women usually were open to dating a wide range of ages. The men were willing to date women up to twenty (sometimes thirty) years younger but more than half of them wouldn't even date a woman the same age as them.
As far as socially acceptable goes, that will differ depending on the area you live in and the company you keep. Yes, men are more likely to date (or marry) vastly younger women than the other way around, but I think that's less of a double standard and more of a biologically and culturally ingrained attraction.
For instance, my boyfriend is two years younger than me. Doesn't seem like a big difference, but it does create a few issues for us. I want to have kids around age 30. So does he. One of us is going to be older or younger than we want to be. Imagine if he were more than two years younger than me. Men may prefer to start a family after they've been in the working world for a number of years and had a chance to own house and build some financial security. Women may prefer to start a family while they're still young enough in terms of biology and stamina to raise little kids. You can see why an older man with a younger woman seems like a good match in this regard.
As with everything in life, you have to figure out what is a priority for you, and sacrifice accordingly. But I do think that in circumstances where there is a limited dating pool, it is rotten to take the twenty yearl old and leave the forty year old lonely.

will those crazy j-dubs ever learn?
by Psychotic Parrot inthey're all over this video!.
as if it means that we are nearer the end.
and yet in this video the u.n. appears to be attempting (in a rather lame way) to protect religion, & those crazy j-dubs are interpreting it as a sign that the u.n. will soon destroy religion.

Are JWs right about anything? No JWs allowed.

I'm looking for a list of those beliefs and teachings that actually follow Scripture from ex-JWs.
To do this, first you must determine what beliefs the scriptures suggest. If there was a consensus on this, there wouldn't be so many religious entities. Most of the JW beliefs are backed up by their interpretation of particular scriptures and can, in turn, be refuted by other interpretations of said scriptures.

I was a False Prophet
by IWillBeDubbedNoMore ini was a false prophet.
i would spend many a waking hour proclaiming to others that i had special knowledge that i was willing to share so that they could survive the impeding doom that was shortly coming upon mankind.
i proclaimed to the world, or at least anyone i came in contact with, that the world would end within a generations time from 1914. i spoke this vile falsehood for years without any remorse.. i falsely spoke telling them that i was participating in a special separating work being done all over the world.

IWBDNM, you have an eloquent way of expressing yourself. The only thing I take issue with is your excessively wordy name.
