  just a few questions I don't want to ask directly hell

  hello - first may i apologise for capital letters my keyboard has gone screwy.

  for the last several months i have been having meetings with two really nice women from the jw organisation.

  i don't want to offend anyone by asking these questions i am simply trying to better understand how the watchtower came about without listening to too much anti stuff.

  Janey, I don't think I properly welcomed you in my previous post. My apologies.

  "Imperfection" is a red herring. JWs like to think the only reason anyone wants to leave their ranks is because they're horny and want to have sex or because they've had their wittle feelings hurt by "imperfect" leaders.

  What most of us take issue with are the teachings. For instance, I respect the belief that God is one person rather than a trinity. If that is important to you than definitely choose a religion that supports that teaching.

  What I take issue with is the idea that doctrines like the trinity, hellfire or immortality of the soul are the most important ones for a religion to get right. Jesus said the two most important commands were to love God and love your neighbor. JWs cling to doctrines and practices that are in direct opposition to these commands (blood doctrine, alternative service, etc), ergo they cannot have God's approval, regardless of whether they have God's singular nature correct.

  13 months later.

  probably 1500 applications/resumes online and in person.. it is not a great job - flippin' burgers - and the distance is a bit more than we wanted for her to drive - but we are thankful!

  they mentioned possible management in the interview - so perhaps it can grow over time.. anyway - it will help keep the wolves off the doors.

  How could have Rutherford been a 'drunk'?

  i feel that the apostate's claims that rutherford was a drunk to be far fetched.

  on the one hand, they claim that he was so drunk that the brothers at bethel shipped him to san diego to beth sarim, where he stayed drunk out of his mind, then on the other hand, they claimed that he ruled the society with an iron fist, that he was a dictator.

  no drunk could have ruled the society like a dictator.

  Letter to former JW friends

  my mother has been burning to write a letter to old friends among the witnesses.

  we move around so much and were never great at keeping in touch.

  no one knows we've left the b0rg, but we don't care who finds out.

  Someone suggested these additions in a PM:

  "When persons are in great danger from a source that they do not suspect or are being misled by those they consider their friends, is it an unkindness to warn them? They may prefer not to believe the warnings. They may even resent it. But does that free one from the moral responsibility to give that warning?" The Watchtower Magazine, January 15, 1974.

  "... and YOU will know the truth, and the truth will set YOU free.”. John 8:32, New World Translation. Maybe this one is not so good, as it might be mistaken for "the Truth". Or, perhaps that is why it would be powerful, as it would force people to check whether "the Truth" sets them free at all.

  I absolutely second what bohm said. When you make a purchase, do you take the manufacturer's word that their product is the best? Do you compare it to products from other manufacturers? Do you read or listen to reviews from people who have purchased it? Do you read only the positive reviews or do you read negative ones, too? Aren't negative reviews only useful if the person has actually tried the product?

  Anyone heard of Watchtower policy change concerning pedophiles

  i'm passing this along from someone else on another discussion board.

  the claim of any substantive change in the policy on pedophiles is news to me.

  can anybody verify or falsify this claim?.
