scripturally free to remarry secret!!!
by asilentone ini know a brother that was not scripturally free to remarry to the best of his knowledge, his ex wife was disfellowshipped in another state, his ex wife did not contact him letting him know that he is scripturally free to remarry, but the elders at his congregation knew about it, but they chose to keep it a secret from him for whatever reason???.
he did not know about it after one year after the fact!
he learned about it from a brother from another state.

My ex is still a JW. He's free to remarry though he and the elders don't know it. I wouldn't be surprised that if the situation came about where the edlers did know, they wouldn't tell him. He is in their words "immature"; in mine, a sociopath. They know he has no business being married and if they have an ounce of compassion they'll spare the next poor girl from being his victim.
In other words, there are some circumstances under which I wouldn't blame the elders for not volunteering such information without beng asked.

ex wants to be free to remarry - ugh
by No Apologies inok, i'm sure i am not the first one to be in this predicament but it sure is a headache, my jw ex called a few days ago, apparently she has met someone (they're not dating of course!
) and she wants to me to hand over the golden ticket.
she wants confirmation either in writing or verbally to a third party, that she is "scripturally free" to remarry.. i have managed for years now to avoid any judicial action and my jw family members still associate with me, but that all could come to a screeching halt if i give her what she wants.. the only bright side is she totally robbed me on the divorce; if she gets married i am at least off the hook for "spousal maintenance", that would mean potentially thousands of dollars in my pocket.... .

Either way offers both a loss and win. You'll have to decide which sacrifice you're willing to make and which benefit is more important to you. If the money wasn't an issue I would point out that you have already made her free to remarry by getting a legal divorce. If she wants to play by the rules of a ridiculous cult, she's welcome to it.

This guy sounds like my ex-husband. How do you have a discussion with someone who (a) firmly promotes the WTS and (b) also promotes ideas that are against what the WTS teaches? He violates the law of non-contradiction. Such a person is impervious to logic and reasoning.
