I don't care if I never lose another pound, but I would really like to overcome my compulsive eating. I was just looking at books on the topic. I think I'm going to pick up these two tomorrow:
Eating the Moment: 141 Mindful Practices to Overcome Overeating One Meal at a Time
The Food and Feelings Workbook: A Full Course Meal on Emotional Health
I have absolutely no control over myself. It's kinda scary. Being unemployed is not helping.
The funny thing is, I have a great body image, I think I look great. And I have a loving family and wonderful boyfriend. That rubs out two of the most common reasons for compulsive eating. I'm going to have to psychologicalize myself.

Reaching Out
by lancelink indid any of you guys ever try to "spiritually advance" by really making an effort in reaching out,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,.
only to be overlooked while some other brother who was honestly just a brown-noser or genuine hypocrite gets appointed.
without hardly any effort on his part?.

I'm just a lower-than-dirt-on-the-floor female, so I didn't have many opportunities to start with. I did everything I could, studied and commented like crazied, auxiliary pioneered often, encouraged other people to study and pioneer. I was on the school but I was hardly ever scheduled for talks in every hall I was in. I had to beg to be given a talk. I offered to do substitutes all the time. No go. Any duty I volunteered for, I was turned down. I've never figured out why they didn't want my help.

Oh, brother. This is as stupid as having surgery to reclaim your "virginity." If you want to draw attention to your beliefs there are more productive ways of doing so.

Book-Burning in Wisconsin
by daniel-p inthe colossal stupidity of some people amazes me.
here we have people worried that homosexuals are being portrayed as people, and demanding that such young adult books be labelled as sexually explicit.
in classic religiously-deranged fashion, the ignoramuses ignore the actual message of a book, rather choosing to vilify and marginalize those of other beliefs.. http://www.cnn.com/2009/us/07/22/wisconsin.book.row/.

I support having a rating system for books like we do for video games, movies and cds. Children can still have access to these things if the parents so wish. Even as an adult I don't like to be surprised by certain kinds of entertainment. If something contains sex or strong language, etc, I'd like to know that going in and choose whether or not to read it. Preventing other people from having access to it is just ridiculous.

What woke you up to the WTS?
by megaflower ini was in service one day and the sister i was working with said," i will start to enjoy life once the new system comes".
sirens went off in my head.
basically, she was saying she was miserable but would wait till the new system to have any happiness.

FHN's first post pretty much sums it up for me. I will add that I found the elder arrangement to be a sham. They were supposed to be a help to us, gifts in men, a hiding place from the storm and a refreshment. When I talked to someone from Bethel over the phone explaining how the elders were hurting rather than helping I got a snotty, "What are you talking to them for?"
That was my last day as a JW.

My mother is a huge fan of Mystery Science Theater. It's a show where some guys watch old B movies and make fun of them. She taped every episode off TV. One movie they watched was called "A Touch of Satan." So Mother labels the tape "A Touch of You-Know-Who." Like he wouldn't know it was about him!
