  since a week ago, gorby was a little nervous.

  last years memorial was the last meeting he visited at the local hall.

  since then, they all were faders.

  Because of family reasons, Gorby and his family, decided to visit the Kingdom Hall for the memorial tradition. Since a week ago, Gorby was a little nervous. Last years memorial was the last meeting he visited at the local hall. Since then, they all were faders. The preparations with wife and 2 children this evening reminded him of the 42 years of visiting the meetings. Choosing clothing and leaving right on time not to be late. When we drove on the parking lane of the hall, I told my wife and children that I hated to go into the hall. One time a year, a small investment for avoiding family problems. We entered the hall, off course being welcomed by some brothers assigned for welcoming. It did not feel real. We walked to our family in the hall. It felt we came from another planet. I tried not to fake a kingdom smile, staying serious. Said "Hello" to a brother who then look awfully at my beard. Then the memorial started. A little analyze: there was no flashback to the early christians. No flashback with some bible text to 33 GT. That's strange. We stayed into "now". Then the brother tried to explain the two classes of christians. He couldn't. It was so illogical.

  It was all over before I mentioned it. An elder came to me and asked me about the children and some other family members. He didn't asked about our situation, our fade. Then 2 colleagues came talking about my job and our company. A small talk. Then I walked away, and 9 out of 10 didn't look at me at all, didn't smile, didn't say hello. I know, they are not my people anymore. So, I know since today, we are not their people anymore, also. For sure, I think that they are so indoctrinated about witness who are not visiting the meeting anymore. I started the car, we drove away, enjoining the nice full moon shining through the clouds.

  CONSOLIDATION REQUEST: Branch Closings

  hey all - i was wondering if we can use this thread as an ongoing one to detail branch closings of the last 5 years or so and any moving forward?

  i had a discussion with some members of my family, who are still dyed in the wool jws, and they didn't believe me about numerous branch closures in recent years.

  i was trying to look up some threads that talked about it here (on my phone), but couldn't find a thread quickly.. thanks in advance!.

  How do you get through the memorial?

  for family reasons, gorby and his wife and children has to visit the hall at april 14. our family accept that we are faders, but don't accept if we do not visit the memorial.. so, it seems a small investment: one evening love bombing for a year peace and rest.. but i hate the visit.

  headache.

  meeting the people knowing it's all fake love showing.. how do you get through it?.

  This generation and a key weasel word

  in this past sunday's watchtower lesson, which has been discussed at length on this board, the gb/writing committee used a key weasal word that we will probably see again.

  the exact quote is: "we understand that in mentioning 'this generation,' jesus was referring to two groups of anointed christians.".

  this goofy teaching is merely a patch until they can devise something more plausible, or until some event occurs that they can latch onto that will make this teaching more acceptable to the r&f.

  i'm not baptised but i've been qoute on qoute 'studying' for the past 4-5 years.

  i'm almost 20. i've been lurking and i've seen a lot of posts about elderettes.

  It's well known in our family history, that my grandmother was an Elderette. SHE WROTE THE PUBLIC TALK FOR MY GRANDFATHER!

  Do The Writing Committee Believe?

  what is their outlook regarding the end; are they still truly convinced?.

  are they expressing doubts or seem demotivated?.

  In the catholic church they say the cardinal and above them do not believe in God. JW's organization is the same.

  Elder on the doorstep

  with a house full with relatives someone knocked at the window.. a local elder was on the doorstep.. he told me we are missed and as i could expect they worried.. i told him see you then.. my frisian blood came up and i think the elder left not that happy.. gorby.

  I NEVER Hear A JW Talk About Never Dying & Living Forever In Paradise Anymore!

  i was raised with this belief, that we would never die and actually make it into the "new system".

  mu faithful jw aunt still talked about my mother (her sister) and her walking together into the great tribulation--- and never die at all!

  she spoke of that 2 days before she passed away.. i believe most witnesses expect to die and then get resurrected.

  with the decease of guy pierce, i was thinking tonight about the day i shook hands with albert d. schroeder.. it was during his zone visit talk in a convention hall in the netherlands.

  i was 12 and walked with my father in the hall.

  It was during his zone visit talk in a convention hall in The Netherlands. I was 12 and walked with my father in the hall. There were

  a lot of people around someone. My father told me "There he is, give him a handshake".

  I walked - a litle bit shy - to him. He was very tall from my point of view. He watched to me strict and asked in German

  "Sprechen sie Deutsch?". I answered "Ein bisschen". He answered "Ah, ein bisschen!" and went away.

  It was not a nice chat. It felt somehow strange. He behaved like he was far above us, the rank and file.

  Since then, I did not like those men anymore.
