Jimmy Fallons rendition of Neil Young singing "Whip my Hair"
Hillarious
this thread is very simple.
post youtube vids of your favorite songs released in 2010 (whether as a track on an album, or a single, or as a video, debuted on the radio or tv, or what not).
it could be of any genre, whatever you like, the only rule is that it has to be a recently released song.

i attended a recent ministerial servant k m school on the east coast and the main school instructor mentioned among other things (part entitled: 'objective of the km school course') that the total number of ministerial servants is seriously less than it should be.
in times past the ratio of m ss to elders was much more than it is today.. in the u.s. apparently the total number of elders is 88,500+ as opposed to m ss 65,000. the numbers show & numbers don't lie: the society is running out of spiritual men.
the instructor stated that this is a new downward trend that has (in so many words) the society worried.. the next speaker (part entitled: 'why we must be spiritual men') added that in his years as a traveling servant the pool of m ss has always been much, much larger than it is today.
Moshe................. This is hollow talk....
I hate to disagree but I NEVER heard anything from the platform that turned out to be hollow talk. Usually it started as a suggestion. Then when that didnt work it became and urging. When that didnt work, it became law.
Always with the WT when the little hammers didn't work, they got bigger hammers.

My guess is that 80 % of current MS are between 18-22 starry eyed kids who have no idea what they are looking forward to, and not old enough to qualify. They will be forced to wait 10 or more years for the elders (described later) to appoint them. The other 20% are wannabees who will never qualify.
Of elders, 80% are power hungry old farts, 60-80, who are out of touch and are tired of all the work and dont want to do anything. The other 20% are younger qualified guys but are burned out carcasses from preparing for countless meetings and attending BS schools to learn how to better beat the flock into submission.
They have no time or inclination to help people in spiritual need.
They have created their own monster.
no brag, just fact---i was the most requested speaker in my hall(s), i was often requested to give talks in kh's all over the place, not just in my area.. i personally enjoyed speakers who taught you something, not merely recited something.
we had a district overseer, paul illingsworth, i loved his style.
he delved into bible words of the original greek and hebrew.
Wow, Paul Illingsworth is mentioned three times??? Holy cow. I heard him and he's verrry good. I list him third next to these guys.
1. David Ianelli- he is currently in the writing department but I only can tell his writings (WT articles) on occasion. He was awesome on a congregational level.
2. Chuck (Charles Valorz) This guy was amazing on a Circuit level. Never heard anyone hold 2000 people in the palm of his hand like Chuck. Very good on Congregational level too.
District level. Nobody. District level talks are boring.
Nathan Knorr??????????????????/ R U kidding me?? Nathan Snore IMO. He was terrible. Fell asleep at War Memorial during his talk.
i just read in the paper today that an elderly man who was off - on as a witness recently died.. i was friends with his kids back in the 70's, so i am considering going to the memorial.
it will be on new years day.. since i am da'ed, and have not been inside a kh for around two years, what kind of reaction should i expect ?.
i am well aware of the shunning, but will i be treated like a criminal once i step inside ?
I agree with MadSweeny...............go, hold your head up high, be a kind, loving, Christian and pay your respects to the family, even if some scowl.
The family will not be able to do anything but remember that act of love until they die. Love is rarely shown in the congregation. Its all about rules and regulations. Do what comes natural.
ok my parents are coming from mexico.
my dad is a big name elder over there, being an elder for 40 years and worked in bethel, co, city overseer, and convention overseer for more than 20 years.. you name it.
and they also did the special pioneer thing (thats when i was born) ... anyway my mom's cousin (who is the head of a service table in bethel) invited them for a 3 day stay in the headquarters.. so they are coming to visit (since my grandpa is very ill)... .
It sounds like its not a matter of "thinking". Your family is about reputation and status. Ever see the Star Trek episode "Landrew"? That was creepy. Thinking and reasoning was rendered meaningless. Made me think about the WT.
Any "seeds" you attempt to plant, will cause them to throw up huge mental barriers against "apostate" thinking. IMO Its the equivalent of shooting yourself in the foot.
Many on this site will cheer you on and let them have it. I dont. The WT has successfully set up an arrangement to quash this kind of action. It's called DF'ing. You might have the satisfaction of speaking the truth from you heart. But then you will have to live the rest of your life without your JW family.
Is it worth it?
any body care to add their own ideas?
imagine if god gave the gb the authority to rule the whole earth and everyone in it, right now, the same way they govern jw's, what the heck would that be like?.
after the temporary euphoria wore off (should last a good two minutes or so), the gb (or whatever they're calling themselves now) would have much to do.
When I first saw this thread, I was hoping OUTLAW would post some of his famous Nazi pics. Too late! He beat me to it. Love those Nazi pics. Reminds me of my old elder body.
as i've read through the new elder's book, something kept nagging at me about it.
then i went to compare one passage in the new book to the old and it hit me.
i've mentioned it on a couple of posts, but i wanted to start a thread on it.... what hit me was that the new book was like an instruction manual to supervisors in a plant.
My favorite chapter in the old book was "Imitate Jehovah, the shepherd and overseer of our souls"
It dealt with the loving ways Jehovah dealt with mankind and gave examples of how elders could do the same. Verry good advice. Bad thing is I dont ever remember studying it as a body.
We only studied the Judicial stuff. Too bad.
Now the new book looks dark. Not one mention of Jehovah, Jesus, love, or imitating them in any way in the chapter titles.
Oh boy
does anyone know the official stand on facebook?
is it in print?
1. not reccommended.
The WT is going to be a little gentle. What about Our Kingdom Ministry or Letters to BOE? The are nicely brutal. Any word?

Does anyone know the official stand on Facebook? Is it in print? If so, where?
Is it
1. Not reccommended
2. Conscience matter
3. Can you lose privilidges
4. DF
And by the way........why Facebook? Why not Twitter, AIM, Email, Text or any other form of Internet communication?
