In the USA we spend 17% of our income on health care, 36 other developed countries spend around 10% and have better results. Health Care Reform should be passed. All social programs in this country have been modified from their original form as needs and modification become apparent. Social Security did not cover farmers originally, that's changed, same with Medi-Care and other programs.

No perfect healthcare system
by Caedes inwhen people propose the government should boost national spending on health, by incentivising individuals to make provision for their own healthcare needs, they normally mean tax incentives for individuals and/or employers for making contributions towards private medical insurance.. the efficiency testthe efficiency test3.6 this approach is inefficient in five respects:.
3.7 first, as a policy its effects are likely to be minimal without a strong element of compulsion.
in 1990 the previous government introduced tax relief on private medical insurance for the over 60s.

Christians explain? Jews never believed in a Trinity even today so how/when did it start?
by Witness 007 injews for thousands of years have believed in their "one god" so i always wondered if in jesus time this was the view, how and when did the trinity start?

Think. People act out their concepts and philosophies. A God who is conceived as cruel gives justification to the people who believe that and they take license to do cruel things themselves.
The result has been millions and millions of Trinitarian Christians butchered each other over the centuries and they butchered non believers by the millions as well.
'Love me or I will torture you for all eternity' that's the Trinity God.

Jonathan nice rant. Of course the Leadership in the Society have taken church governance to far and have hurt people, everyone here knows that. You have your blinders on to see how the Church leaders of Trinitarian Christianity have done far far worse things. Millions upon millions killing each other in each of the past 18 centuries. What a blood bath. What a cruel god they devised and followed and still do.
What shame they bring on the good name of Jesus.

Jonathan, of course I know the Trinity doctrine don't be silly anyone can read the Westminster Confession or the earlier Creeds. Look at the history of the Trinitarians over the past 1800 years, murders, torture, wars. They conceived a monster and a cruel God and lived and perpetrated that type of cruelity on each other.
They brought shame on the good name of Jesus.

The Trinity was one of the truly cruel philosophies to entrap humans- Love me or I will toruture you for all eternity.
That translated itself into humans feeling justified for bringing war to millions and millions, torturing others, even members of their own belief system.

Were You Always Feeling Guilty As A Witness?
by minimus ini think the religion works on guilt.
everyone is made to feel they're not good enough some how or perhaps they practice a "secret sin" and it gnaws at them.
so they decide to pioneer or "do more", recognizing they can never really make up for whatever shortcomings they have.. were you a guilt ridden jw?

One of the Fundamentalist's here said they deserved to be in Hell, their idea of it anyway, but were saved. Imagine as an adult or even a child sitting in a church being convinced of that, Hell fire, really.
Armageddon and the second death were the things we were clubbed with. Whatever happened to a kind and benevolent Supreme Being.

If the WTS is not a False Prophet, what is it? surely the Bible identifies them as Apostates
by jookbeard inthrough out the wts history it has claimed to be the only channel that god has selected to be his mouthpiece on earth, it calls itself ; the greater david, the jonnadab class, the faithful and discreet slave, the elijah class, the fulfillers of trumpet blasts in revelation, so on and so forth.
yet from it's inception by ct russel it promoted a unique brand of biblical beliefs that were meant to be accepted as bible truth, 1799 1874/1914, miracle wheat, the pleiades star constellation, the occult content found in the studies in the scriptures/divine plan of the ages etc, would jesus himself have selected a religious group who were promoting such beliefs?
impossible, also russel was embroiled in a serious sex scandal that was never satisfactorily answered.. the reign of joe rutherford whose first proclamation was to announce that he had served as a district judge, which was shown to be a lie, he went on to build beth sharim a luxurious house in expectation of the resurrection to earth of the faithful worthies , a failed prophecy that surprisingly failed to come true.

Witness beliefs about their place in the religious firmament has its issues to be sure.......nothing in comparison to the ethical problems of the Fundamentalists.
