Now I understand why for thousands of years Europeans have slaughtered one another! They like to bicker!! They seem to thrive on fighting and bickering, all the while exhibiting a superior attitude toward the "inferior" European; which of course is usually the one they happen to be bickering with at the time!
The damage done by Europe's imperialistic tentacles is behind many of the political problems in the world today, including the Middle East.
The U.S. did not plant the rootstock of the political world we have lived in for the last century, Europe did! If when playing the "traditional" role of a Great World Power America is lacking,
it is that she is not following closely enough the well worn path of her European mentors who have pressed the sword into the flesh of their fellows with their right hand while shattering their dignity with the left. Give us more time to learn your craft!

it is indeed strange, yet understandable to observe the "kneejerk" reactions you get when you point out possible .
flaw's with the mighty us of a, "god's own country".
even from people who should have learned not to have that .
Norm,
The US has the misfortune of being a World Power, and as such it is far more likely to come under scrutiny.
Scrutiny and accuracy though, do not necessarily always travel together; this thread is evidence of that also!

the norwegian newspaper vg, reports: iraqi general nizar al-khazraji was the man behind the butchering of 180,000 iraqi kurds in 1988. he was one of saddam's faithful generals.
he later had to flee iraq and is living on a secret address in denmark.
he is under investigation by the danish police.. ---------------------------------------------------.
Seeker,
I think campaign reform would be a start. I believe no politician should be "bought" by anyone but the people. Political campaigns should be financed by alloted Federal funds and nothing else. In addition the news media, electronic and print, should be strongly encouraged to support this by providing free time and space to local and national political campaigns.
The politicians also need to be reminded that political lobbying by special interests is not provided for in the Constitution!

Seeker,
Are there practical, "easily put in place", policies or procedures you advocate in order to effect change in the U.S.?
What solutions do you espouse? If possible, please provide details.

Kent,
This has nothing to do with individual citizens, so stop whining about "America-bashing". This has to do with American Foreign Lack of Decent Policy - nothing else.
Many Americans feel the Bush Administration is acting improperly. We put down our politicians all the time and as you know half the country did not vote for this President. As a result, many Americans would understand and even agree with criticisms from others of "Washington", the "Bush Administration" or the "American Government". But to use the term "America" instead, hurts because now our COUNTRY is being vilified. Vilify the politicians all you want, but not our country. The politicians are really the ones pulling the strings, just as politicians all over the world do.
I also hope you and others here are not assuming that what any American has posted on this thread is representative of the opinion, or the problems, of the majority or even a large minority of Americans (this post included of course). We are too varied and not that easily categorized! For every opinion stated here by an American there are millions of other Americans who would vehemently disagree!
The right to publicly disagree, is our greatest right and the very foundation of our government! And it is one which Americans practice daily!!

i have published an article written by lee elder on watchtower information service:.
where is the wts headed with their blood policy?.
the wts stood at the threshold of permitting autologous whole blood transfusions and for some reason, presently unknown, suddenly shifted and stepped back.
Thanks for bringing this issue up again.
It would seem there is a schism at Bethel, one that will eventually cause the break up of the Organization into different parts. This I believe is what will happen.

in 1998 sixty minutes first told this story and on the third of this month sixty minutes ii aired a follow-up... .
following world war ii, great britain was flush from victory but short on cash for social programs.
they had a surplus of kidsoverflowing children's homes with kids put there by parents too poor (at the time) to care for them.
Teejay,
Thanks for posting this. It just shouts to all of us the importance of keeping tabs on what our governments are up to at all times! A free press has the responsibility to do its job all the time and under all circumstances!
Life is learning, as I have been recently reminded of by a certain prominent poster here. Hopefully we will learn from this too, and remember that our elected officials need our input and at times our outrage. They are there to serve the people not just to do what THEY think should be done! More accountability, more "eyes" on what was going on, may have prevented this very sad event from happening.
