i feel that the apostate's claims that rutherford was a drunk to be far fetched.

on the one hand, they claim that he was so drunk that the brothers at bethel shipped him to san diego to beth sarim, where he stayed drunk out of his mind, then on the other hand, they claimed that he ruled the society with an iron fist, that he was a dictator.

no drunk could have ruled the society like a dictator.

If you noticed I said that apostates 'give the impression' that Rutherford was a lunatic drunk who was in the 5th stage of alcoholism. The web pages portray him as insane drunk. Wouldn't you agree? The definition of an alcoholic is someone who 'is powerless over alcohol'. Do you feel that Rutherford was powerless over alcohol? Every human alive has something in their past that they would be ashamed of, heck, you guys even find fault with God! You apostates spend billions of hours digging up dirt on Watchtower leaders, getting into their sex lives and such. I just don't get it. I feel that if Rutherford was such a bad alcoholic as you all describe him to be, there would be a ton of evidence against him in support of your theory. It would be common knowledge in the witness community, and I sincerely doubt that Rutherford could have run the Society as a 'dictator' if he was a 'chronic' alcoholic. Where do apostates say on their web pages that he was a very mild, in control, alcoholic? The claims that are made is that he was a mad drunk.

There are a few things to consider. I didn't post this to play a semantics game. The impression that the apostates give is that Rutherford was a lunatic drunk who was probably in the 5th stage of alchoholism. Remember, Jesus was called a "drunk" by his critics. Should we believe them? Even among fellow witnesses I have observed brothers and sisters being called "drunkards" by those witnesses who don't drink, and I myself have been accused of drinking too much after having a couple of drinks, and I hardly drink. It is a common thing for non-drinkers to be critical of even social drinkers, and this could be the case with Saltzer and Moyle. Remember, they were bitter apostates, how could they give an unbiased view of Rutherford and his drinking? Please give some facts of Rutherford being a drunk from an unbiased source and then I could accept these accusations. Also, in an article in National Gragraphic titled "Alcohol", it was noted that NO ONE ever had seen Winston Churchill drunk. He drank eveyday, but would not have even been considered a 'problem drinker'. Is it possible that Rutherford falls into this catagory?

I am sorry if I did not make myself clear. First of all, I do not want to give the pretense of being an expert in evolution. I think that is obvious. But my question is this. Say you lay all the horse fossils next to each other, starting with the first one that is 200-300 million years old and stopping with the mordern horse of today. Where is the fossil for the mammal that was immediatly prior to the "first" horse? Prior to the "first horse", there is no fossil record of it's ancestors! It seems to me kind of strange that you start off with a fully developed horse(even though it was only the size of a dog) and yet there is nothing prior to this. My point is this: Is it possible that the creator made a the "first" horse, and the others evolved? This is where evolution has a very severe problem, and that is in "transition of the species", wouldn't you agree?

through all my years as a jw, i've always had trouble understanding the jw preoccupation with behavior modification; especially the teachings regarding ``stumbling.

'' why is it that we are expected to pander to the lowest common denominator.

i'm thinking in particular about the oft-used example that when we liberal northerners head south into the u.s. bible belt and encounter a jw who, influenced by local preguidices, abstains totally from alcohol.

You mentioned Paul but you didn't mention Jesus. he said 'If your hand stumbles you, cut it off, and if your eye stumbles you, pluck it out.' This shows that stumbling your fellow man is a serious offense. Sometimes, when you show respect for others in areas where they are sensitive you can open the door to teach them about God's Kingdom. Upsetting them will surely close any door of opportunity.

You mention that there is an abundence of fossils proving evolution. One that I have researched is the "horse fossils". They have horse fossils going back to when the horse was the size of a dog. But you admit that there is a shortage of fossils where there is a "transistion of species". Why? If they have the whole horse fossil collection, why don't they have the fossil of the species before it became a horse? It would make sense that it would have easily been found along with all the "horse fossils".

Yes, I can. The apostates claim that the Society quotes sources, and then doesn't give the full information of their source. What is any different here? Who is "Larry D."? If Larry is an ex-Witness he should come out with his whole name before spreading gossip. Wouldn't you agree? There have been incidents of homosexuality at Bethel in the past, but this article tries to imply that immorality has been a severe problem at Bethel, especially homosexuality. To me it is grasping for straws.

Another JW suicide

i have just learned that there was another jw suicide in western washington (south king county) last weekend.

the man was a young adult, in good standing, married and doing well financially.

i can't reveal more, and this one didn't hit the news either.

This is very sad indeed. I have to agree with Nathan Natas regarding the amount of rain in Western Washington. It does make for extreme depression. Coffee doesn't help.

When someone dedicates their life to Jehovah, they make the choice to serve Him and uphold His standards. There are no "rules" as you describe them, just guidelines for clean living for a Christian to live by.
