this was the same man at different times in his life yet he changed his name because he completely changed his ideals and goals too.
both were extremely zealous, both thought they were doing gods work, both thought they were working for the greater good.. acts 8:3 (new international version)3but saul began to destroy the church.
going from house to house, he dragged off men and women and put them in prison.. soul thought gods work was to destroy the christians but paul.... acts 20: 19i served the lord with great humility and with tears, although i was severely tested by the plots of the jews.
If I had to pick one apostle, I think, as much as some of the stuff Paul says echos my own views, I would be John.
I truly think that God and Jesus are ONE and that they are Love.
Of course this is John of the letters of John and the Gosple of John, not that nut job on the island.

Excellent Post Mad Dawg.
at least i have/do at times.. dear god.
why is knowing you so confusing?
why are you dependent on my 'faith'?
Jeff,
Its not God's will, it never really has been, not if we are to believe we have free will.
It falls on US to make changes we need to make and to make a difference in this world, the best we can ask God for is the strenght to do it.
To ask God to fix this and that, well, that is taking the responsibility for what we (people) have done and do, out of our hands.
Not gonna happen, we made the mess, we fix it.
there have been a number of developments over the past few months and they paint an interesting picture.. witnesses can keep dragging themselves to meetings ad infinitum however, the future of the watchtower itself is another story.
the evidence of continuing cash flow problems is now overwhelming.
if you talk to well placed witnesses, most won't deny it but simply blame it on the publishers financial problems.. they have cut off loans to congregations many of whom genuinely need new kingdom halls.
If the WT hasn't gone the way of the do-do by now, I doubt it will, it fills a void for some and as such, there will always be people willing to join.

You want God to take away your free will ???

Spike,
I can see that, because Jesus is quote Detronomy, that it can used in those passage, with out much argument, note though that, Youngs for example, does NOT translate it as such.
Nevertheless, under the context that JESUS is quoting, I agree that YHWH can and should be there.
those of us on this board, who live in the united states, know this country has a lot of christian history attached to it's founders and current political state of things.
if i look in the yellow pages, under christianity, in the church section and browse the listed selection; i will quickly notice that the large majority of options are christian based in one way or another.
with this said, more then likely you are working with christians, living next door to them or related to them in your life.
Hybridous,
That is a horrific story, it pains me to hear it.
Realize that your friend is NOT lost and that Jesus and God were with him till the end, his belief being irrelvant to their love.
Many religions say many things, too many of them to get you in and keep you in.
God is love, the kind of love one can't begin to imagine, God loved your friend, as he loves you, through out his life and till the end, nothing would change that.
As a Father loves even his most wayward child, so does God love us and more so.
You can demand all you want from God, all he truly ASKS of us is Love.
can anyone confirm what i read on another website that the aid to bible undertsanding, 1971 pages 884-885, admit that the term jehovah is a combination of yhwh and the words adonia and elohim and that scholars generally favour "yahweh" as the correct pronunciation?.
is this correct?.
.
Spike, the blood transfusion issue should stricly be a personal conscience decision, no one business but between a person and God.
No one has the right to judge anyone, certainly not in regards to a medical procedure that can be life saving.

I look it up as I was waiting for your reply :)
I found the Greek NT but didn't find the Hebrew NT...
Most of the bible translations you shoed on the japanese site that use Jehovah or Yahweh, use them in the OT and some, liek Young's Literal Translation are far older than the NWT, some say that many pasages of the NWT are from YLT or based there on, neverthless, you don't see Jehovah or Yahweh appear outside the OT or OT quotations.
