I thought of another one. Jethro, Moses' father in law, a Midianite priest, advised Moses on how to set up a godly organization. Exodus 18:1, 2, 17, 25

Organization non-members ARE approved by God
by YoursChelbie indoes the bible contain accounts of persons who, while not active members of "organized" religion have god's appoval?
if it does, this would contradict watchtower teaching, since they often claim that anyone who's not a baptized member of their organization will suffer destruction.
further they claim that only active members of their "organization" have god's approval.

Ruth was a foreigner. She was not raised in the Jewish tradition. Ruth was therefore not part of the covenant Jehovah made with Isreal.
Isrealites were warned about taking "foreign wives". In the latest WTS study of the book of Isaiah, much was made of Esau's marriage to foreign wives and Edom's subsequent hostility towards Isreal.
Yet Ruth's offspring is part of the line of David, and according to WTS doctrine, Jesus is a direct descendant from this line.

women, god and religion
by teejay ini'm close to leaving this place, but before i go, i've been meaning to post this politically incorrect viewpoint.
it's an extension of a conversation i had with my mother in law not long ago, a conversation which was itself an extension of several extensions of thought that i've had over the years about a number of things.. simply put, there are two kinds of people in our world.
those that believe the bible and those that don't.

SYN, come, now. Let's not blame hundreds of years of oppression of women on the bible. Bigots have USED it, yes, to justify their cause; White Supremacists WTS and slave traders included. But bigots will use ANYTHING, no matter how poorly researched, to back their cause. Considering the times these stories were written, there are plenty of model women to chose from.
- Deborah the Judge
- Rahab the Harlot
- Ruth
- Esther
- The Shunnamite Woman
- One of my favorites is "a certain woman", probably an early feminist, in Judges 9:53.
Jdg 9:53 And a certain woman cast an upper millstone upon Abimelech's head, and brake his skull.
In the new testament, the Samaritan Woman, Mary and Martha come to mind, though this is not an exclusive list. And God has always had a tender spot for widows and orphans. Do you believe also, that 90% of Christian men have not read the bible from cover to cover in a short period of time and really thought about what it says? Otherwise, I will ask you to justify this sexist remark.

The book that will bring Ethics to the GB.
by Bleep inthe governing body may be too old to teach sex education.
but they are wise in other matters.. i have made a new topic since i slaughtered the book in the last topic of raymond franz.
do not forget that he made a mistake in being a 100% governing body thinker.. no organization at its early stages can live up to jehovah's expectations and no one is perfect.. please list some good ideas, ethics that the governing body has done here.

Bleep, I am too busy balancing my life to do your research for you. The first step in "bringing Ethics to the GB" is to have a full definition of Ethics. Please provide a definition of Ethics, from an authoritative source. WT materials do not count. There are dictionaries on-line if looking it up in a book is too much trouble.

JEHOVAH'S WITNESSES WANT IT BOTH WAYS
by Perry inwhen individuals leave the organization for conscience reasons, it is evidence that god is shepherding and protecting the flock by doing a sifting work.
when people leave another christian religion it is evidence that the religion is morally corrupt and unable or unwilling to provide spiritually for their members.
when a christian from another denomination lies, he is acting according to his own disposition being from the father of the lie.

Great post!
A teenage witness who runs away from her unbelieving grandparents is a hero of the faith, while an unbelieving child who runs away from a witness parent is a prodigal child, lost to the family until he returns to his senses.
A smoking witness is defiling the body, yet the gossip that turned him in is a concerned sister. ( Titus 2:3)

Email from a Witness about the site
by Simon inwould just like to say that i have spent hours reading material on this web site.
just would like to also say that i am still one of jehovah's witnesses.
if jehovah's witnesses are truly distructive and to familys as well then i would like to know please, how on earth is the association of brothers going to stay together, if it is really destructive?

Thank you, Simon for this site. I desperately needed an outlet for my questions about the WTS, to express myself freely without fear of judgement. True, there are angry people here. At least here, I have the freedom to listen to both sides and "take the meat and spit out the bones".
Isn't there something odd about an organization that needs to instruct its members to be happy, since "Jehovah is a happy God?"

Man, after all, creates gods in his own image.
by Bleep inthis is why i like to help those come to an accurate knowledge in the first place.
those that agree that there has been so many god's that have been worshiped can post here.
satan is behind it all of course.

Bleep, I do not have to explain my philosophy any further. I have already published my claims, and referenced the appropriate scripture. Jehovah does not lie, remember. Read what I have written all ready.

Understanding the Lord's Prayer.
by Bleep infrom the april 1,2002 watchtower.
page 5 and 6.. to see the difference between having an accurate knowledge of the bible and having a passing acquaintance with what it says, let us consider what is commonly called the our father, or the lord's prayer, recorded at mathew 6:9-13.. millions regularly recite jesus' model prayer in church.
but how many have been taught its meaning, especially the first part of the prayer dealing with god's name and kingdom?
