Sargon, here is one opinion http://www.christianity.co.nz/eye-5.htm
Darn you! You activated my researcher gene. Really, it's been fun looking this stuff up. I have to get back to work now. Happy reading!
this happens every year in february, i find myself doing really silly things because i've got way too much time on my hands.
today i actually found myself tracing biblical stories with my atlas.
when i got to mark 7:31 i had to scratch my head, either my atlas was wrong, my bible had a misprint, or the gospel writer mark was absolutely clueless when it came to mid-east geography.

Perhaps they are just planning ahead when the GB will be governing the planet. There will be no more worldly road-builders and ditch diggers. And, of course, roads built on paradise earth can't have potholes. Besides, the elders will need SOMETHING to do in the new order. They can shovel gravel.
regarding the wt's report for the period 2001 - 2002, i guess many here will agree the numbers seem to be coming back up again.
it was interesting to notice how the previous years many of the so called "developed" nations namely the u.s.a., canada, and many eu leading nations such as germany, the netherlands, britain, france, and so on actually reported decrease in their numbers.the only increase came back then from the called "under developing" nations.
this years there seems to be a very significant rebound to those negative figures.
Remember this is all about numbers, which can be crunched many different ways. The 3% growth this year may be a result of recent events such as 9/11 and the threat of war. Recent articles continue to emphasize the urgency in these "last days". Hey, it worked before 1974. This modest growth is still not keeping pace with world population growth. ok guys,.

How many do you have to go, confused?
as most of you know my hubby is in the jw.
cult and every morning he reads his daily text.i asked why he needed that daily dont you know how to conduct yourself from day to day?he goes on to say ..it's bible passages,i said why not read the bible..he say's this text breakes it down and makes the daily reading easier ,read it see for yourself.well i did just that i read passages in it and checked what it said to a bible.
hum o'k it matches his bible but this other bible my daughter gave me from her lutherin church it's different which one do i believe?when asking my hubby he said all bibles change some words so it's easier to understand but ,the new world translation, is the closest there is to the origional.my question what bible is right, what bible can i use to compare that he would see his is wrong.one that is non denominational that suits a certain religion.
Utopian Raindrops started a great thread, Which Bible is the Best? The NWT is no longer the most contemporary English translation. You can look up various verses just to see what they look like online, without making any investment. Check out http://bible.gospelcom.net . It is fairly literal, except, in the few spots where the original conflicts with their doctrines (Divinity of Jesus, for instance).
i recently wrote a story bout being accused of smoking.
and then taken off for being nasty for trying to stand up for myself.. they told me im not allowed to do field service.
then told me they dont want to see me in the street at all!!.
Hey, look at it from the elder's point of view. They are charged with the important responsibility of discerning if everyone in the congregation has the appropriate meek and humble attitude. It takes a great deal of energy trying to discern who they can talk to and who is a waste of their time. Sometimes one doesn't get Holy Spirit direction until long after the person has left. Here you come along talking fairness and all mad that they don't love you any more.
Come to think of it, forgiving someone seventy times seven times would be a lot less work. Why don't you write the FDS a letter suggesting that such a doctrinal change would release the elders to spend more time with their families and in the all-important field work?
something interesting that i happend upon..... .

Great find, Elsewhere! An eloquently worded article. Thanks for sharing.
maybe i was just curious to hear what they were going to discuss.
i went to the two day circuit assembly.
for those who wonder, its theme was taken from psalms 37:3 it's theme trust in jehovah and do good.
Jehovah has never left me. Like Double_Edge, I have never been a witness. So I don't confuse Jehovah with a Man-Made Organization.
I recently started at a new church in my neigbourhood. A room full of people sang their devotion to God from full hearts, a lovely sound. I cried when we sang the same I heard when I accepted Jehovah in my heart, over 20 years ago. I smiled at the children bounding down the aisles, all in their Sunday best, crowding the associate pastor as he told a little story. At least five strangers shook my hand and introduced myself, and asked if I was comfortable. The pastor sent me a letter of welcome the first week. So I can understand how you might miss the fellowship. Do you think that Jehovah only lives in Kingdom Halls?
Are you sure you are not just missing the leeks and onions?
i need some information, and i hope that someone on this forum can help me.. yesterday, my mother in law was telling my wife about the wonderful wt study yesterday morning.
apparently, it was the one where they discuss the annual report for last year.. she mentioned that the article pointed to a 30% increase in baptisms.
since we don't have the article, we have no idea what she is talking about.
