Artful - Glad you liked my title. I sweated that one out. I wanted to condense my thoughts in to one catchy phrase. Hey! You are right about those ones held up as "fine examples". They nearly all have to be "lifers", second generation.

one of the 'problems' i had before blackguard deprogrammed me was i could not reconcile the actions of the j-dud masters with a loving god.
i felt if god was with these people i did not want to live in any new system under this power structure.
if god was as phoney, vengeful, and petty a person as his faithful and discreet slave was i was better off dead.
I told my honey, "I would slit my throat before I would live on a planet ruled by Elders." As part of my job, I have to attend a fair number of committee meetings. At least I get paid for that, and every meeting has to come to an end sometime. Then I get to go home and relax. What if the meeting never ended? And there was nowhere to go to get away? My ultimate nightmare.
I tried to explain to my honey that his father (a cantankerous, opinionated curmudgeon who would just as soon pinch a nurse as take his pill), whom he adores, would not last two seconds on a world like that. (By the way, the nurses adored him too. Go figure.) As soon as he would get the lay of the land, he would spit on someone's boot, light a cigar, or swear at the first pompous buffoon he could find. Just to get himself zotted out of there.
Reeducation camps with a thousand-year term? No thank you. This has got me so riled up, I am gonna throw out all my skirts and wear pants. And go find a polished boot to spit on.

James Thomas - I am always impressed when readers follow my exotic links. I think I could spend all day on that site. It is a good reminder the great variety our world offers. When I was a little girl, I used to pore over a book called "Wild Animals of the World". Once in a while I would grieve over the page reserved for those that were extinct. I was very much older before I realized that this book did not include every type of animal that roams this planet. There are just too many of them. Unity-lock-step-one-seed-only is just not our Creator's style.
Johnny Cip - you might enjoy another quote in the sidebar of this same article, titled "How to 'Bear Fruit With Endurance' ". It is a half dozen quotes from some of the old-timers. out of curiosity, do any of you have any photos of where you are from, or the communities that you live in?

We didn't have a waterfall, so we built one.

this is a letter i wrote to the society after someone asked me out in service about herbert w. armstrong and his teachings.
that was the excuse, anyway.
in fact, i had been reading some of armstrong's literature, too, and was curious what the wts would have to say about him.
I just wanted to say, Neon Madman, I am really enjoying these posts. (Hoping this encourages you to keep going.)
