The closest family member who is a Witness is a nutty brother in law whom I think would expire of a heart attack from throwing the first stone. Too many bloodless surgeries.

Would Your Family Stone You to Death?
by cofty inot law required jews to take the lead in stoning a family member who became apostate.. the watchtower has lamented the fact that the law of the land now forbids them from doing so.. if the law permitted it, as it does in some musim countries, and if the watchtower required it, would your family obey?.
my parents are good people and i believe their love for me is genuine, but i think they would follow orders.. what about yours?.

If you reject the existence of the soul then you are an Animist?
by Seraphim23 inthe classic debate between those who believe that consciousness is merely the result of the operation of the brain, and those who believe that it is apart from the brain, like the idea of a soul or the classic dualistic distinction between mind and body, is a well-known one.. however the thought has occurred that when people try to convince me that the soul cannot be real; soul in the sense of consciousness being a separate thing to the operation of the brain, then really the materialistic non spiritual view is in fact a rehash of animism, strange as that might sound.. animism is the idea that soul, spirit, consciousness, or whatever it might be called, exists in plants, animals, things, objects, places or basically in everything and anything in the material world.
the view of some is that very primitive cultures had this wide category of spiritual belief, which eventually evolved into the all the religions, faiths and spiritualties of today.
some of the faiths of modern times are not defined as animistic because these draw a distinction between soul and body or in modern parlance, consciousness and brain.. so in very ancient times, at the dawn of human spiritual belief, the sun, for example, rising and setting was seen not so much as being caused by the proverbial spaghetti monster but as being the proverbial spaghetti monster.

I find the most useful accoutrement to the meeting is a blank notebook and a sharp pencil. Then I write whatever I want. If you carry a case of some kind, the congregation will leave you alone.

By the way, people can classify at the macro level very well. We can tell the difference between furniture and fruit, for instance. Our distinctions become ever more complex when we drill down to the details. For instance, does an upended bucket become a footstool when we use it to rest our feet?
Our drive to classify and the challenges to distinguish come with the way our minds organize things and the limitations of language. An object's classification is not inherent to the object, but our very human way of placing it in context in our world.

There is not just the matter of complexity, but the ability to replicate, which distinguishes those things that are alive from things that are not. Things that are alive can die. Rocks don't.

We distinguish quite clearly between the living and the inanimate. There are a few markers, like the ability to replicate. Rocks can't do that.

I have come to know a woman who looks like a china doll and rarely speaks. First appearances were so deceiving as I've come to know her. She does not speak because of an anxiety disorder. She has a wild sense of humour and is as sharp as a tack. Her childhood, traumatic. She expresses herself through those tattoes. Her life is so precarious and I dearly hope she makes it. She might not make it.
I agree that aggressive body mods look weird on a peaches-and-cream complexion, both male and female. That pale skin flushes up if you flutter your eyelashes at it. I envision nasty, flaming infections around those sites. But keep in mind there can be so much more going on inside that person that you can know.
P.S. this woman I have come to know, who looks like a doll, does not feel feminine at all. I suspect it is a defence against a hard and cruel world that has not always been kind to her. Consider that a woman may be trying to appear less feminine, for very personal reasons.

People get self-esteem building so backwards. I like John Wooden's approach.

People start feeling better when they do good things. This girl has yet to have that feeling. She's been shortchanged by the adults around her.
