I am getting ready to move, so did some scrubbing around the house today. My time as a cleaning lady really came in handy (Did the work smartly with a minimum of effort. The appliances sparkle.)

Learning to play chess has paid off over and over. That game taught me to consider consequences two or three moves in advance. Because of this training, I've rarely been blindsided at work. Those people who pegged me as an easy target were sadly disappointed. Some of them still don't know how I foiled their nefarious plans. I saw them coming, duh!

So all experience and training pays off.

My logic and emotions are in a turmoil. Need specific help please

i am still in, and as my name says "stuckinarut"...now i know it is not the truth, i know it for a fact...but im so messed up with a wash of hundreds of thoughts that i cant seem to get my head in order.. i thought i had my head clear and my 'sh1t together' so to speak....but ..... im sure you know what i mean?

when there are so many reasons and facts proving ttatt, but if asked to make a list in bullet points now, i would get so overwhelmed....i just dont know where to start.

i feel like i would be like a balloon let go flying around the room in all directions trying to 'spew' out the facts!.

The good thing about a list is it takes that stuff out of your head.

Temporarily "checking out" and distracting your mind for a while sounds like a great idea. I use mindfulness meditation, which can be very simple. The breathing technique works really well (suggested by a poster here).

first off - for those lurkers who feel guilty just for being on this site and reading this (even if you don't read any further, as it is your right to choose that course) i want you to know that you're not alone in what you're going through or in what you are feeling.

if you read on, i hope my experience may be of some small help to you.. this may be long, but i'll try to organize it in a way that doesn't make it painful to read.

to start, i feel it is most beneficial if i'm upfront and honest with my goals from posting this, which are (in order of the degree to which they motivated me):.

Mine is a success story. After ten years, hubby has stopped attending meetings. I finally got smart and let him make up his own mind about things. In the meantime, I encouraged his natural personality to assert itself at every turn. So even if he was occassionally attending, I had my natural man at home. A win-win.

I would use phrases like, "You've always been like....", or, "Oh, honey, I remember when you used to...", or, "What makes you so special is when you...."

If he had a fit of guilts for missing a meeting, say, I would say I am sure that a wise and loving Jehovah would understand, and there's always next week.

I think the big fear for the exiting JW is that their partner will reject them, once their true feelings are known.

Don't forget the value of experience. My surgeon had conducted thousands of surgeries of the kind I am going for. That's what sold me. His bedside manner leaves a little to be desired, but then again I am banking on his technical acuity.

What words has the WT redefined?

these days, virtually every public talk speaker thinks it's interesting and intellectual to include a dictionary definition of some word.

often the word is in common use and needs no explanation, such as 'exercise', or 'knowledge', or whatever.. now contrast that to all of the words that the wt has it's own meaning for, and referencing a dictionary for the common understanding of it would be viewed unfavourably.. words like 'generation' or 'men' (as in jesus is mediator between god and 'men' - 1tim 2:5-6).. what words have the wt redefined that you know about?
