My new favourite:
I'd say the pedophile problem is religiously neutral. An enterprising pedophile will seek out any trusting environment where there is easy access to children.
im not trying to poke fun at any particular religion or show favouritism, but im having a hard time recalling similar repeated scandals in non xian religions.
i cant recall hearing of pedo scandals in islam or buddism.
yes i know that islam perpetrates many other evils like so call honour killings but buddhism seems to be rarely in the news for similar evils ?

i think my earlier post " what is a fact" has run it's course.
in this thread i would like to present the same question " what is a fact" from a different viewpoint.. many j.w children have loving parents ( that is a fact) but parents who insanley demanded unquestioning obidience to their deranged standards.. so " what is a fact" to innocent children is that a god who they have never seen nor heard, will destroy them if they dont live to the g.bs deranged standards.. so basically these children have been taught the wrong meaning of words:-.
love is conditional.
Gravity exists. You feel its effects daily. That is a fact.
What it is and how it works remains a mystery.
See the difference? Some observations are beyond dispute and are facts.
So reality is not entirely relative to the individual.
what is important to you and why?.
maybe i should begin with a few suggestions:-.
love,.
Challenging entropy, leaving a legacy. Lifetime learning and mentoring. Health, flexibility, smell, and reverence.
what an amazing story.
to hear her describe it, it sounds exactly like the controlling, abusive environment many of us were raised in, except i didn't get to spend 2 years confined to an extravagent hotel in switzerland.
she escaped at age 22 after: dum-da-da-dum!
"...it has a profound impact on you. It's something you have to [consciously overcome] because all of your trigger points are [wrong]." - Close
How very insightful. She must have done some serious self-reflection to shed that upbringing.
as a kid growing up in the uk we used to play 'cowboys and indians' and watch high chaparal and bonanza along with other cowboy films.
later, in the 70's kung fu would be shown with caine going through the 'old west'.
we even had a chocolate bar that was marketed with a 'cowboy' theme...milky bar.. as far as i know the 'wild west' as shown on tvdidn't actually exist.. are there people that believe it did?.
"Recently, you might be interested to know, I met an actual cowboy. He described to me how cowboys do their job today, herding thousands of cattle. They have tightly organized teams, with everyone assigned specific positions and communicating with each other constantly. They have protocols and checklists for bad weather, emergencies, the inoculations they must dispense. Even the cowboys, it turns out, function like pit crews now." - Atul Gawande

A gentle poke at the Western genre:

in the blog http://debunkingchristianity.blogspot.com bloggers john shore, john loftus, and robert price are watching the dismantling of christinaity over the lgbt question in the us.
see the 10/17/2014 post.. coupled with the scandals of the megachurches lately many christians are asking questions for the first time on how things have gotten this way and where is the holy spirit to protect the church and people.. .

Good catch with the Quakers, but their membership has always been small.
i've been drinking 1 tbs with a glass of water twice daily for digestion for about 3 weeks now.
i've found it helps, but it also acts as an appetite suppressant; i've lost several pounds since using it.
i'm consuming fewer calories because i'm just not as hungry as before.
Vinegar kills bacteria, so be sure to replenish your stomach with probiotics afterwards. (get the refrigerated, natural kind from the health food store). You may have to flush the stomach with water first so it is not too acidic for the beneficial bacteria.

JG, there's a hard-core bible-believing church around here where members abstain from the "internet" (makes it deucedly difficult to find meaningful employment) and take the admonition not to be "unequally yoked" to an extreme (marry in the denomination, and blacks marry blacks, whites marry whites). Yes, their numbers will drop, from natural selection alone. But are they "pure"? Really? Or just stupidly fastidious?
The Essenes, the Quakers, and the Shakers faded in to history, too. Remaining pure to their beliefs to the end.
