My honey, an active JW, has 41-50, including the Encyclopaedia Brittanica, non-fiction on his hobby, aside from WT materials going back to the seventies. Great for me if I have to look something up.

Question for You Know
by larc inon one of your posts you say the we operate with false assumptions.
it seems to me that one of your assumptions is false, to wit, the wt is god's organization.
again, somewhere you wrote that the jews were no longer god's people when jesus arrived.

You Know, you have stated
... while on the earth those heavenly citizens are visible to other humans, which ... makes them a visible organization, .... The problem is that humans have a very limited ability to percieve heavenly realities. ... That's why Christians so easily fall into idolatry.
From this statement, I perceive that if humans look to a visible organization for direction in spiritual truth instead of directly from their Heavenly Father, they are guilty of a form of idolatry. I would go along with that.

I FEEL so bad!!!!
by SpiceItUp in.
i just got my cat neutered..... i know its the responsible thing to do...but i still feel horrible about it!.

Hey, Spice, if it makes you feel any better, I will tell you about my late neutered boy cat - Jesse. A siamese cross, he was bigger than all the lapdogs in the neigbourhood. And just to prove it, he would regularly beat them up.
My daughter really wanted a dog, but I hoped Jesse would do. He almost succeeded, learning to Sit, Lie Down, and Shake a Paw. Unlike a dog, however, he would not perform without a suitable reward in evidence. When I allowed our Huge and Happy German Shepherd to join our home, Jesse took it in stride. A few swipes across the dog's nose, and they had everything settled who was boss. And Jesse endured the butt sniffing and body checking with equinamity.
Jesse was a great friend. Sorry he is gone.
My opinion, neutering is not the end of the world for a cat. Now cut out mealtime... that is another story!

Are Witnesses Locusts?
by jgnat ini was amazed to discover that faithful witnesses are the locusts of revelation fame.
but reading the description of the locust, i can find some similarities.. .
many orthoptera are serious pests of vegetable and grain crops.

Would/Do you wear a Cross around your neck ??
by Prisca inafter all that we had drummed into us about not the cross, and particularly about not venerating the symbol itself, i have been wondering about this issue.. so, what are your views about wearing a cross around your neck ?
is it just a fashion accessory, or does it mean something to you ?.
inquiring minds would like to know

Thanks, SPAZnik. It is fun to tangle with an inquiring mind.
I do admit to some lazy logic on the difference between an IDOL and a SYMBOL. Since the jewish people are well known for their deep inquiry in to these matters, I did assume they have reconciled themselves about the difference. I do think we can learn something from what they will and will not do. I thought of another example, that is very similar to the cross - Jehovah's written words carried in a vial around the neck, as a constant daily reminder of all His promises for his people.
It is pretty clear that an Idol is something that people worship as a replacement for God. A modern example, I would think, would be Elvis.
Can an ACT be a SYMBOL? Hmmmm. Maybe. The sacrifice of lambs culminating in the great sacrifice that Jesus gave has some enormous symbolism attached to it. The eating of the bread and the drinking of the wine symbolic of eating Jesus' flesh and blood. Does that mean that an anointed witness is guilty of taking blood by eating and drinking at a memorial?
Great leap of logic with the fornication thing, though. If sex is a SYMBOL of something, it seems to me it would be of the wonderful union one soul can have with another. A joining of mind and heart and flesh.

CULT CULT CULT
by minimus ini have read many opinions about jw's being a cult.a dictionary describes cult as a system of religious beliefs and ritual .. some have viewed even major religions as a cult, such as the roman catholic church.based upon webster almost anybody or anything that is viewed as ritualistic could be said to be cultic.when someone tries to negate jehovah's witnesses by using.
the "cult" word, i believe they are not seeing that many others could legitimately be regarded as a cult or at least "cultic".therefore the word loses alot of meaning.
some have said that the watchtower is a cult because of the control factor.

Bleep, the answer is obvious. The witnesses wish to be self-sacrificial Locusts in the interests of the larger group, willing to DIE for the cause of seeing the DESTRUCTION of all other faiths but their own. Sounds like soldiers to me.

Bleep said,
I know how to have a balanced life so I only spend five minutes a day here and check in every now and then.
That explains a lot about the lack of thought in the responses. So bleep is here to preach, not for dialogue. I wonder if he did a search for "dialogue" on his WT CD if he would get any hits?

This is why the Demons can't be human.
by Bleep inonly god has the power to create things.
but he can have help with the design.that is why they can only be mutants or huge giants when having relations with humans.
the demons have the power to go into the body.

Indeed, larc, AND BLEEP, the improvements in medical care such as vaccinations and hygiene in the last 100 years, plus improved diet, is largely responsible for our population explosion. Instead of a mother expecting to lose half her children to disease, she can watch them all grow to adulthood - barring the unexpected. People are living longer, and are in better health in their old age.

Bleep, you are not really leaving for the summer, are you? Still running from all your unanswered questions from other topics? Since the Isaiah book is the study of choice this days, would you care to comment on the study's conclusion that the instruments of Jehovah's command to destroy corrupt Israel do not get off without punishment? They themselves were eventually destroyed for their eager desire for plunder and greed (i.e. the Ammonites, etc.)
I advise you not be so eager for the day of destruction. Go for a walk in the park. Breathe the fresh air. Pick some wild raspberries.
