i'm here posting something about a love problem again... .

maybe you remember my crazy adventure i'd with a guy that i met at internet.

Jesika, you might be the perfect person to talk to this girl. In ALL of her posts, she is a walking doormat, waiting to be stepped on. Also, she makes no distinction between sex and love. The tone of her posts and chat makes me think she is on the hunt for another predator. Methinks I smell a walking victim with a past. Or an undercover sex crimes cop.

Do great crowd members receive holy spirit?

the wt places great emphasis on the fact that the anointed receive holy spirit, are anointed with holy spirit, and were/are baptized in name of father, son and holy spirit; until the 80's, baptism was still done that way for all witnesses .

great crowd members, on the other hand, what do we get?

I am mightily confused about this myself. Because of my background, I assumed that by calling the 144,000 the Anointed, that these ones had exclusive right to be Anointed by the Holy Spirit. That is, the Holy Spirit residing in our hearts.

Now he that establisheth us with you in Christ, and anointed us, is God; who also sealed us, and gave us the earnest of the Spirit in our hearts. 2 Corinthians 1:21, 22 ASV

All other references to Anointed point to Jesus. Since the "other crowd" in Revelation are not in the holy of holies, but congregated around it, do they have direct access, according to WT doctrine, to the Holy Spirit?

And it shall be in the last days, saith God, I will pour forth of my Spirit upon all flesh: And your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, And your young men shall see visions, And your old men shall dream dreams: Acts 2:17 ASV

It looks like you are correct in that the WTS does not consider Satan equal to Jehovah. I wonder about Jesus though. Do they believe Satan could take him on in a fight?? There are a few implications to that concept as well.

All this emphasis on Satan, Satan. I think the purpose of the article was to polarize the Witnesses' world view to two options; with Jehovah (read Jehovah's organization) and "happy", or with Satan (read disfellowshipped) and "miserable". What of ordinary living with life landing us a few blows once in a while? Is that Satanic? Or just life?

I consider Satan to be lord of evil, not discomfort. Evil is easy to spot. Evil is hurting a child for selfish gain. Evil damages the innocent.

Ex-JW looking for help with difficult ex-spouse

i am an ex jw with two children that i share custody with their father (still a witness) we have become very involved with our church (my new husband and i) the problems we are having deal with birthdays,and all the ususal non-witness activites where my children are concerned.

we do celebrate all birthdays and holidays.

my 7 year old has been spanked and threatened by her father for the mear mention of any of these things.. their father had increasingly become emmotionally distant from them.

Msjam, you have received good advice all around. Preserving as much of the relationship as possible is very good for your children's mental health. Keeping a journal is also very good advice. If things start to go very bad your objective, documented observations will have a lot more weight with a Judge or social worker than a whiney, nasty ex.

I imagine it is very difficult to reason with a JW who believes he is right and the rest of the world is damned. I would concentrate more on the children. They, at least, can be reasoned with. They are the ones that will bear the scars for your ex's mistakes. Do not badmouth your ex in front of the children. He is digging his own grave on his relationship with the children. Have regular discussions with your children. Teach them how to express their feelings about the situation, and demonstrate unconditional love. Be their rock.

what do you think are the key ingedients for becoming a successful person?

i know that the definition of success varies from person to person.

for one person, it might be having a job that they really enjoy.

I am a big believer in dreaming and setting goals. Here is my mission statement I wrote for myself in 1997. I might need to modify it soon, but it served me very well the last few years. Please forgive the language of loyalty. It is not at all the same thing you guys experienced. I keep my friends for life.

I will develop my talents and abilities all my life. I will be generous in sharing what I have learned with others. Through both difficult and prosperous times my testimony will be contant; though my loyalty and actions I will demonstrate that I love God, my children, my church. I will encourage my children and others to excellence, and help them believe that great things are possible.

I added a footnote, as I can be awfully hard on myself.

I am a success if I DO my dream. Taking longer than I expect does not mean failure.

This article starts as follows: Jehovah and Satan are complete opposites....this contrast is pointed up in a standard reference work. (not quoted). The WTS claims to be the only organization interpreting early Christian doctrine correctly. The above quote and the tone of the last few articles, gives Satan far more power than is his due, in my opinion. Also, a doctrine where Satan is equal and opposite to Jehovah has traceable pagan roots. A brief browse of the internet, and I found out some interesting things about the equal-opposite dualist doctrine. Zoroastrians believe it. Manicheans believed it. Aryans picked it up. Hmmm. Does the WTS have other doctrines in common with the Aryans? The Taoists also believe in Yin and Yang, balanced opposite powers living inside of us.

C.S. Lewis wrote in 'The Screwtape Letters, There are two equal and opposite errors into which our race can fall about the devils. One is to disbelieve in their existence. The other is to believe, and to feel an excessive and unhealthy interest in them. They themselves are equally pleased by both errors.

We all here on this website have different beliefs ranging from atheism to pantheism. Really, you can respond to this thread by declaring your own belief, but I am more interested in clarifying the WTS doctrine on this issue. Does the WTS believe in equal-opposite power between Satan and Jehovah? Between Satan and Jesus? My specific concern is that the WTS is not being honest about the origins of this dualist doctrine.
