The following is non-apology apology for getting everything wrong since 1800 something or another. Here is a breakdown of three sentences, appearing in the December 1, 2002 WT,
Enjoy Personal Study of Gods Word . I know this is duh for veterans out there. I am really writing this for me. To remind myself they can't just rewrite history as easily as the writers for Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman.
p. 18 Although the slave class is defined as faithful and discreet, Jesus did not say that it would be infallible. The group of faithful anointed brothers still consists of imperfect Christians. Even with the best of intentions, they can be mistaken, such as men sometimes were in the first century. (Acts 10:9-15; Galatians 2:8, 11-14) However, their motive is pure, and Jehovah is using them to supply us with study aids to build up our faith in Gods Word and promises.
Although the slave class | There is no slave class defined in the bible. There is a parable featuring a faithful and discreet slave, but a class is not attributed to him. Where is the ten virgin class? |
is defined as faithful and discreet, Jesus did not say that it would be infallible | What DID Jesus and Paul say about slaves? I find the slave parables about evenly split between evil and good slaves. If the faithful and discreet story is viewed as a parable, this split between evil and good slaves makes sense. Behave like a good slave, and Jehovah will reward you. Behave like an evil slave, and the small amount of talent you did have buried will be taken from you. If, as the WTS claims, there is a group of men representing a modern-day faithful and discreet slave, all these slave parables take on sinister implications. We would therefore expect to find a corresponding evil slave class. Or else a slave can be either evil or good depending on his choices. Who might these evil slaves be, I wonder? |
The group of faithful anointed brothers still consists of imperfect Christians. Even with the best of intentions, they can be mistaken, | And this makes them different from the faithful men and women of all faiths and denominations how? |
such as men sometimes were in the first century. (Acts 10:9-15; Galatians 2:8, 11-14) | And as such men sometimes were in the second century, the third, fourth, fifth, right up to modern day. |
However, their motive is pure | And how are pure motives measured? By their fruits John 10:11-18. Exactly how are the sheep faring in the WTS? Are the weak strengthened? Are the old and frail cared for? Or are these weak ones given over to Satan to be killed? |
