I have just started attending a new church, and let me tell you the contrast to the org is mighty refreshing. I walked in unnanounced and unknown, and I can't get in or out of the place without 4 or 5 people coming up to greet me. I could use their library without being a member. The teenagers can play their guitar in the Band. I have taken communion (aka Memorial) twice. The introductory bible study lasts ..... ONE DAY. They serve PIZZA at the introductory bible study. Both pastors have cornered me after the service and asked how I was doing. The ladies get a fashion show next Saturday (Invite All Your Friends).

There is a lot to be said about asking nicely. The use of "Discrete" and "Discreet" was driving me nuts, but I didn't stoop to calling everybody else dummies when I brought it up. By the way, missing apostrophes may be a formatting error. They all disappear when I copy from Microsoft Word. I try and catch them all, but sometimes a few slip through.
If you want to leave, leave. You don't have to slam the door on your way out.

How Would You Handle This?

i've been expressing myself about some of my doubts about god being an active creature in our life and my doubts about christ being the son of god.

i didn't know the young grandkids were listening sometimes when i was talking to the adults.

my daughter was telling my wife that her 10 year old son was crying to her because he was afraid of dying since god and christ wasn't real.

Looking back, I am sorry I was so literal with my kids and denied the existence of fairies and other wonders. Looking at the delicate filigree of frost on my window reminds me there is plenty of magical and unknowable things in our universe. There is something about the faith of a child; the rosy glow of hope, the starry eyes full of anticipation and wonder.
Ken, I would promise the parents that you will not share your doubts out loud in front of the children.
Also, a universal fear of all children is the loss of their parents or other loved ones; either through death, divorce, or some other calamity. You can do a lot for a child by taking them in your arms and promising to love them and be there for them forever and ever and ever and ever.
That is not to say you can't question and search out your own answers, or challenge your family snug in their unquestioned faith. I am only suggesting such doubts are more than most children can bear.

i have lived in the san diego area all my life and i have to say i can't imagine a place that has more cults.. this one street, melrose, which runs through a northern san diego city where i lived for years had virtually every cult you could think of in a one mile stretch including mormo and jw.. we also have a proliferation of ufo and cosmic cults.

we have this one whore of babylon, ruth norman, who is always on public access and operates out of east san diego.

just looking at her makes me want to puke.

Molhie, are you speaking about the Roman Catholic religion from your personal experience, or from what you have been spoon-fed (oops, I meant read)? Read this link if you dare.

Third hand testimony is not allowed in a court of law, nor should it be given much credence here. i was out and about last night shopping and who should be in the shop as i go in but my x so called jw friends from my cong.....my kids were with me and i said nope im not going into that shop and having to face them.....my son was like ohh for goodness sake, he doesnt understand, anyway he convinced me... .

they of course saw me and rushed up.

these are people who put a knife in my back and who are related to that elder who likes to lie alot .

With you gone, who do they have to talk about? Poor people. It was important to them to build up that contact as much as possible, so that they may gossip about it for months to come. I am curious. Are you officially gone from the congregation? If so, how could they justify associating with you?

In the article, Blondie’s trinity - reading WT materials, regular attendance, and field service is again emphasized. Other WT approved qualities include the phrases
loyal integrity keepers
we must carry our own load
we do not experience such miracles
we need faith and patience
never adopt the degraded Cannanite lifestyle
resist assimilation in to the world
not his goal to be a great man of this world
pursue goals far higher than worldly prominence
(like mike adjustment, perhaps?)
Is prestigious secular advancement what you desire, or has faith given you much higher spiritual goals?

Acting in faith may well move us to action if we are somewhat hesitant about fulfilling a challenging assignment in Jehovah’s service

By the way, the article chose to skip the stories of Abel, Samson, Jephthah and Samuel. I re-read the account of Jephthah. Judges 11:1-12:7 I understand why they skipped his story. Jephthah would not make a very good Witness. He was a headstrong, brash, disfellowshipped bastard child, whom the elders begged to come back to fight their war for them.

I also noticed the article ignores the fact that Enoch did not just miss the pangs of death, he went missing. According to WT doctrine, exactly where do they think his body went?
