"Hello from Phats"
by phats inhay out there.. wife got back from her thursday meeting & now she's setteled down with the dog, a v large g&t (maid be me) & watching terminator 2 on the telly with her ipad on her lap looking up places to go for our holiday (& googling symptoms of to many antibiotics as my 16 year old is getting signs of ibs).
so now is a good time to say hello.. well hello.

Welcome, Phats! You will always be Phats Domino for me now. I am going to guess that keeping the elders out of your private affairs is a big reason for your domestic bliss.

A wise exiting JW told me that the elders only make it hard if you want it. If you obviously don't care, THEN they will hound you to return.

Hubby is a master at slipping through the cracks. When he faded the first time it was because he was separated from his JW wife for infidelity. It took him ten years to settle the divorce, too. Ticked off ex-wife. Well off the elders radar.

How is the org really run? What goes on behind the scenes?
by Magnum inhow is the org really run?
what goes on behind the scenes?.
i just read an older post on this site that was recently bumped (http://www.jehovahs-witness.net/jw/friends/6600/1/don-adams-biography) the post mentioned the adams brothers don, karl, & joel and how influential they are/were at headquarters.

Several scenarios are offered as to how they got so good at control, jhine. They could have stumbled on what works so kept at it. They improved through evolutionary selection. I think they have made mistakes in the past couple years which will hurt them in the long run.
Rather unique with with the Witnesses is the long recruitment, minimum six months. I think this leads in many cases to a long awakening. I think Hassan has had better success "snapping" other cultists out of their dream. It is a rare outsider who will patiently lead a Witness to their authentic persona over six months or more.

Well, one aspect of indoctrination is frequent reinforcement. Deleting a midweek meeting I believe, weakens the reinforcement. Like Coca Cola, I think the WTS stumbled in to a winning formula and decided to run with it. They are messing with a few traditions this new crew, which may lead to some unintended consequences. (Declining attendance and lighter donations).

Baal the rider on the clouds.
by Crazyguy ini have been reading the original texts from the city of ugarit about the god el and his created gods mostly about baal.
baal is described as rider on the clouds, defeated the seven headed serpent litan.
he then demands a palace be built for him on mt zaphon,a palace over a ten thousand fields built with the finest cedars from lebanon.

I remember watching an episode of the Naked Archeaologist where artifacts around the time of Jesus shows a lot of intermixing of gods and beliefs. For instance, lamps ornamented with several gods. The idea of a Pure Israel kind of goes out of the window after that.

He had not told the elders about me and at that point we'd been married several months! I did not think it right that the take a spiritual role where that sort of deception was over his head. Oh, he knows that I blew the lid on that one. I showed up at the Kingdom Hall and sat beside him. He hustled some elders together to confess. Problem solved.
I did not sabotage my husband; I sabotaged the WTS's programming.

Sometimes the biggest truths are told in story books:
