I am close to a young couple who recently came out of the closet and were immediately rejected by their families. It is devastating.
Ten years? Would your family prefer to pretend you are simply inactive?
so it's been about 10 years since i have faded out and have stopped believing in the jw teachings.
since then, i have accepted jesus and have experienced an amazing tranformation in my life and have been freed from the jw prison mentally and spiritually.
a more detailed thread about my journey is here if you are interested.. anyways, my jw family lives in another state so they are unaware that i am no longer "in the truth" since i have not told them.

I imagine in your position with your light hid under a barrel, Gustv Cintrn, the Kingdom Hall seems quite cozy. But such a perspective is necessarily...diminished. I can name a half-dozen organizations that provide a superior social network.
Another contender for business masquerading as a religion, is Focus on the Family. Pretty slick publishing house.

One word; AMWAY.
Still behind the times. Weird Al recently OWNED YouTube by releasing eight videos over eight days. He openly admits his medium is better suited to the little screen. He knows his market, and knows how to reach it.

modern christianity is based on the notion of a universal outreach to the nations, begun in the first century.
however, a closer examination of the scriptures suggests that biblical concepts have been misunderstood and misapplied.
1) the "world" into which jesus was sent was israel.
Our entire history is a mythical construct. Myths are handy.

Instead of attempting to claim authenticity by looking to the past, perhaps Christianity is better served by embracing it's evolution.

Attempting to rebuild an "authentic" Christianity is inherently flawed as well.
i recently learned ttatt and it really sickens me when i sit through the meetings.
i am so tired of faking things.
i feel like vomiting when annoying things are said from the platform.
Others have mentioned the importance of a plan. I echo this sentiment. It puts you in the driver's seat of your own life. It is important that you start taking control back. Even if you can't exit right now, choosing to stay gives you a sense of control.
Start building friendships outside the society. This will come in handy later.
"Coping" is something that Witnesses do to tolarate an intolerable situation. Coping hardens the arteries, bows the back, raises blood pressure, reduces testosterone, weakens your immune system and is generally very bad for your health.
so far my oldest niece and oldest sister cut me off.
i'm waiting for the goodbye texts from my other siblings.
my parents asured me they would never cut me off.
Promoted to worldling, LOL! Only in JW-land does any of that make sense. Love your parents. Ignore the rest of the drama.
is science simply a powerful tool, or must it also dictate adherence to strict secularism?.
science must not impose any philosophy, any more than the telephone must tell us what to say.

I'll fix this:
Isn't this also some sort of belief system [of inquiry] in the tale that science has all the answers questions?
