  Looking at the picture, that guy is setting off my Gay-dar, as in, 'I'm ashamed of being gay thanks to the WT, so I got married to cover it up'. I can assure you that woman is not thinking of him in a romantic way.

  this is probably in the wrong section, but i couldn't decide where to put it.

  i was raised a jw and i still suffer effects from that kind of upbringing.. anyway, they said they were local community volunteers and they wanted to give me something related to the community.

  i didn't open the door but they put a jw tract through it.. i don't think it's right to be so devious about recruitment.

  I still say it matters not a hill of beans, simply because -

  NOTHING OF ANY RELIGIOUS SIGNIFICANCE HAPPENED IN 1914 ANYWAY.

  Just like the failed 1874, 1925, 1975 and so on.

  It does not take any chronological research to see that nothing happened the way Russell had been predicting.

  All I am saying is doesn't it scare anyone that the President can just demand this kind of money? Does BP have insurance for this does anyone care?

  It should be scaring (and I think it is) the pension holders in England who depend on BP revenue. No, BP does not have insurance for it due to the liability cap law which was IIRC only about 250 million.

  What I am thinking is that this is a first step to push BP into bankruptcy and from there Obama can take over U.S. assets of it like he did GM and Chrysler - neither of those was really by law, but it is not too hard when the company is hopelessly going under.

  It might be of interest to note that a business commentator said on the morning news today that BP really has only about 17 Billion total in liquid assets at this time.

  Some sort of underlying quid-pro-quo has to be going on with this. Obama did not have legal authority to do this, other than through the power of intimidation.

  I suspect that Obama would be far from averse to doing another government takeover of a private business.

  This "community service" angle is new to me, but back in the 1960s and 1970s, I NEVER saw any JW honestly identify themselves at the door as "We are Jehovah's Witnesses".

  They always said they were bible students, or that they were doing a bible educational work or some such. The words "Jehovah's Witnesses" would get the door to shut in short order.

  They would only reluctantly admit who they were after being bluntly asked.

  JWs in UK appealing for charity donations for beds

  while the watchtower leaders smugly bury their glorious leaders and eulogise about their dedication to jehovah i.e.

  watchtower publishing company , their brothers and sisters of the lower order in the uk are begging for charitable donations through the jah jireh care home home site.. it seems as if some of the millions who will never die are now doing just that and are in need of urgent help because armageddon or cloud cuckoo land as it is known to the sane, refuses to show up.. maybe the past w/t presidents who have reached their sell by dates residing in the heavenly realm can speed things up a little.. if you would like to make a donation go to the jah jireh website and check out the latest news..

  JWoods, these are probably the older people that got kicked out of Bethel so they wouldn't have to care for them in their old age. So they'll look the other way! LOL!

  That was going to be my next question. Pretty shameful in any case for an organization as rich as the WTBTS to be beggin for this externally for their members and not internally through the normal congregation channels.

  So this is an outside organization NOT part of the official Watchtower Corporations?

  I thought that sort of thing usually got shut down by the society -
