  Just a simple statistical question on the blood issue -

  i was driving to work monday and the local oldies rock station had on a public service ad for the local blood bank...mentioning a dallas lady who had to have an emergency caeserian section, but they were able to save both her and the baby.

  it required several units of blood.. it set me to thinking - what if???.

  what if the entire united states were placed under jw "theocratic" law and every single person was denied a blood transfusion option?

  I am in a very grouchy mood towards JW's today. Thinking about lives that are lost due to this cult doctrine isn't helping....

  +++++ Me too.

  Here is something to think about - if blood transfusions were not a practical necessity in modern medicine - we would be back bleeding people when they got the flu or sticking leeches on them to suck out the phlogistiones. If this atually killed people like the witnesses want to have it - the liability lawyers like John Edwards would be all over the issue and advertising it on TV in the manner of Mesothelioma.

  It is the modern-day equivalent for witnesses to the fear of aluminum pots and pans, the hatred of vaccinations, and the magical diagnosis machines from the times of wing-nut Russell.

  joshua wasn't done butchering people, "not enough time in the day" to chop up "god's enemies" so he says: "yeah hi jehovah, just wondering if you could make the sun stand still for me so i can continue the slaughter...thanks.

  " no problem!

  god stops the earths rotation {which should cause it to drift from the sun or crash into the moon} and holds it for joshua.

  Perhaps we should also remember that the whole motive for this little fable is crap...

  What was the purpose of this so-called "miracle"? Not to save lives - oh, no - but to kill more of the philistines!!!

  The Jehovah God loves to kill the enemy! Even when Jesus tried to implant some peaceful tendencies upon this culture, the JW world has brought back the war-god and soon, very soon, he will come back and KILL EVERYBODY. Except, of course, the chosen few.

  It might be of interest to note that when the Tsunguska comet struck Siberia, the amount of atmospheric dust thrown into the sky caused refraction of sunlight as far away as London to make it almost appear to be daylight throughout the nights for about 2 days.

  I've actually heard a couple of old-timer dubs say the same thing. They weren't presenting it as an idea to be considered...they believed it.

  The other silly side of that coin is that a self-righteous circuit overseer once told me that god put the dinos here before adam so that we would have petroleum. (nice of him to let us drive cars around for a hundred years or so before he blew us all to hell -) This wingnut really thought that oil reserves were squished dinosaur guts. I challenged him out on it, and he covered himself with the immaculate logic that the Sinclair Oil Company had a green dinosaur on their logo.

  Sometimes you just really cannot make this stuff up - you had to have been there.

  BTW, somebody else here on the board had this same little twerp as their Circuit O. and had some equally stupid stories. They also told me that he had passed away some time back, sadly without seeing the big A...

  A southern Baptist fundy once told me that the Dinosaur skeletons were God's trick on Evolutionists - the animals never really existed; He just put the petrified bones there to test the faith of those not really die-hard strong for literal Genesis creation and flood.

  See if I can get you an upgrade on that Ferrari. Of course when I get into office, I will immediately ban gasoline.....................

  I suspected as much. BTW, it is a 1986 with only 25,000 miles and thus is not qualified (23 years old) for the $4,500 that the administration offers me to crush it and drive home in a Prius.

  The Rolls Royce would, though - (I believe) as it is a 1995.

  Think that would get me a spot on the Rachel Maddow show? I think she is kind of cute even if she does suffer from a hormonal condition.

  i just got a call from an old girlfriend who thinks she has been diagnosed with this.

  first doctor sent her to a neurolgist to confirm..

  Thanks to all.

  Rhonda had an MRI and they think they see a lesion...this is why they sent her to a specialist. She was complaining that she had lost feeling and muscle response in her left hand. First they thought it might be a stroke, but now this.
