Elders Trash Face Book
by sammielee24 injust found out that elders and spies are trolling face book and my space.
some elders in xxx congregation began trolling face book looking for wayward souls and using the links to other friends etc to get more info.
they waited until they had enough ammo on the 'friends' and then printed off some of the conversations being had....questioned the 'friends' who of course denied everything..and then they produced the printed copies to catch them in the lies.

No need for science, just read the Watchtower
by jabberwock ini often hear scientists and others complain that some religious people are satisfied with "god did it" as an explanation for everything and are uninterested in what science has to say.. i never felt this way as a witness; i always felt that witnesses were very interested in scientific discoveries.. apparently, i was wrong.. r.stuart marshall is a witness with a doctorate from stanford whose life story appeared in the wt 08 12/01.
consider this telling anecdote from that article:.
the university of california wanted funds to compete with other states to win a six-billion-dollar federal project.

I am not sure, but it was always my impression that the witnesses themselves did not actually even make up the "water canopy" theory on their own...I am pretty sure I have read it in other fundy literature.
Must have made for a pretty dreary Garden of Eden, I always thought.

Reading the Awake magazine is as good as a college education.
And, here is the deal: It is now so good that you only have to read one ONCE a month instead of every two weeks like before.

Healthcare Reform - The President's Address to Congress - How will it impact your profession?
by jeanniebeanz ini posted this in another thread, but thought it deserved a serious discussion topic of it's own.
does anyone else work in the insurance industry, or are you involved in regulations or benefits plan design and administration?
if so, would you be interested in a discussion of the speech and perhaps healthcare reform's anticipated impact on their own profession?.

This whole health care issue has indeed morphed to a great degree into a blatant all-out attack on the health care insurance industry. We again heard this complaint against insurance executives and profits last night.
I have wondered what the general economic effect would be if huge numbers of jobs were lost from this industry, and the profits they make were not reseeded back into the economy.
It would logically seem not very different from losing jobs in autos, steel, and home building.

I suppose he also still believes in a total coverage "cloud cover" before the flood, and that this would have not only had enough water to flood the earth, but also have had a "protective effect from cosmic rays" and a general "warming effect" for overall earth climate?
Stupid in the extreme. Just read a book that refutes all this, and I am posting a thread on it.

Diane Sawyer - World Nightly News
by jeanniebeanz ini'm sure she is a real nice person, but i was disappointed to learn that diane sawyer was replacing charles gibson on the world nightly news.
she's always been very difficult to watch since whenever she disagrees with someone she's interviewing, she gets this "i just smelled something obscene" look on her face.
after that, her face freezes in this very sour look for some time.

OMG - we have ruined (I tell you - ruined) Jeannie's perfectly good thread about the rapidly melting ice-queen Diane Sawyer.
I think that the anime Esmerelda pretty much puts this one paid, Snowbird.

Well, to be perfectly honest about it - I started fading away in 1977. Last meeting (the very last) in 1978. Went to the so-called "elder" school in 1970 in Pittsburgh Pa - instructors were Schroeder and Davis.
Finally, the "committee" called me in 1981 and I told them to go to hell once and for all.
