  Every source I've read says that there is no easy military solution.

  And the deal is that if you blow something up from a distance, you will not know exactly WHAT you really blew up. Without an invasion anyway, that is.

  this is the watchtower media dept.

  in 12 years, after they lose their minds and start killing their members.. then splinter sects will form, based on the degree of corporate punishment each sect believes in.. some will still kill their errant children.. others will believe in spanking and forcing all meeting attendance,.

  and finally, there will be those, prodded by the holy spirit, who renounce all physical contact with other people, preferring punishment by various eye signals.

  Have you checked out the ex-wife of the old bearded weirdo (Dr. Gene Scott) who used to scrawl out all kinds of greek and hebrew in search of some hidden meaning? She has a sometimes-on show of her own occassionally...Melissa Scott.

  I have heard that some of her earlier work in the movie industry was outstanding.

  One thing I don't understand is why simple deterrance would not work with them the same way it has always worked - Pakistan, NK, etc...

  ( I know the rhetoric is that their president is a madman and will use it anyway, but...as a third option between nothing useful and war) -

  Make it damned clear that if they use one first, Tehran goes up in a puff of smoke.

  It would have been more interesting, even, if the Watchtower people had been taken to prison themselves and then both they and NAKATA avoided getting blown up by the Little Boy because they were deep in the basement on death row.

  Temporary New Covenant limited to 144,000? Salvation outside NC?

  does anyone actually believe that the new covenant is temporary as the jws falsly teach and limited only to the 144,000?

  that the non-annointed still "benefit" from it though are not parties to it?

  that there can be salvation outside the nc?.

  BTW - have we had a thread recently showing what mainstream christianity thinks about these 144,000 references in Revelation?

  For example - a symbolic representation of a vague "new Israel" i.e. the whole church? Martyred Christians through the centuries? Other?

  The whole 144,000 idea is so weakly defended by the witnesses (only two obscure and symbolic references to the number that really could mean almost anything) that it really is hardly worthy of discussion: Except for one thing -

  The JWs have actually made this practically one of the core tripods of their belief system. Other two being weird numerological chronology of the end, and an obsessive reliance on the medieval name Jehovah.

  A witness is so blinded by their confusing litany that they will just blankly stare at you and say - but it says 144,000 in the BIBLE! OK - Right, but it doesn't say who they are, what they are, when they lived, or where they are going in any kind of understandable clear terms. Nor also did ANYBODY ever think up such a belief system in around 2000 years of Christian theology before Rutherford cooked it up to create a ruling class and a slave class.

  We had a new guy appointed as congregation overseer who actually gave a prayer and thanked Jehovah for the special spirit upon the congregation since he had himself been appointed.
