Or could it be both? I think he himself charactarized it as being mad-crazy.

Would Witnesses REALLY drink the "Kool-aid" if the faithful slave told them to? Yes or no?
by Witness 007 ina "spiritual leader" tells his followers the must put on rebok running shoes and "drink the cool-aid" to join a ufo in the tail of a comet and "go to a better world" so, afew dozen young people do just that to get "beamed up" to the mothership.
heavens gate cult 1990's.. my mother says "she is faithful to the organisation till her death" which makes me wonder if they ordered a mass suicide like the reverend jim jones did to escape a "great tribulation"....how many witnesses would really drink the cool-aid?...
without a gun pointed at their head of course!.

You can't compare obeying a perceived biblical interpretation with a preposterously hypothetical scenario.
I am not so sure - the bible nowhere even hints at the idea of blood transfusion, blood fractions, organ transplants, or such. And yet the loyal JW is supposed to be willing to DIE over these issues, and many have done so in the past.
Were you a JW when the Jonestown suicides came about? I was an elder, and I found that about 10% of witnesses I knew were secretly concerned of the cult-like similarities between the Jonestown people and witnesses.
Mind control is a dangerous thing - and how pervasive it is has always proven to be very difficult to judge.

I don't know what types of freaks you hung around but of all my JW friends the answer is NONE.
And I presume that none of them would refuse a blood transfusion for JW reasons as well?

Why do I feel like a Barbie???????
by babygirl30 ini said that to my therapist yesterday morning...told her that the best way for me to describe my life was to sum it all up and say 'i feel like a barbie' - cause i do!!!.
every aspect of my life was controlled: what i am supposed to wear, my 'role' as a female in the cong, getting baptized, going in service, how i'm supposed to act and talk, who i'm to associate with (or not), going to meetings, driving 'certain' cars (no 2-doors), how to do my hair, whom to date and marry, blah blah blah...... when you add it all up - that is a barbie's life!!!
any girl that has played with barbie's understands that you are purely in control of 'her'.

The Organ Transplant Doctrine
by Sharpie ini read this page http://www.jwfacts.com/watchtower/medical.php about old light about organ transplants..anyways so here is the timeline in short after reading that page.. organ transplants acceptable in 1961.
...it does not seem that any scriptural principle or law is involved.
it therefore is something that each individual must decide for himself.

Welcome to the forum - and an interesting subject for your first post. You quoted from 1975 -
Organ transplants still unacceptable in 1975 for some preposterous reason. The oddest one yet. Hell, cannibalism made more sense then this
"A peculiar factor sometimes noted is a so-called 'personality transplant.' That is, the recipient in some cases has seemed to adopt certain personality factors of the person from whom the organ came." Watchtower 1975 September 1 p.519I have no proof, but at the time this was just past an equally preposterous 1970 idea that the human heart somehow could "think" for a person like the brain. Possibly this above idea was aimed at heart transplants?
I think that lawsuits over this issue, however, would probably be few and far between. The rules changes were not very obvious even to the JWs at the time - certainly it was under the surface compared to blood transfusions.

As horrible as it sounds, a scenario like the heavens gate or Jonestown could possibly be presented.
Like the Masada suicides, perhaps a suggestion could be made that this is the honorable fast track into the new system, the evil world is all around them and can be defeated in a sense by this act. Both crazy Applegate and JJones successfully pulled this argument off.
Us Undercover points out, it could take years to brainwash into the rank & file, but there have been some pretty crazy stuff brainwashed into them in the past - and as Undercover also pointed out - not all the Jonestown people acted on their own; many had help from the leadership.

I have to disagree with the above. I have viewed MadJW as a troll from the first posts, and am not at all convinced he is really an active JW.
I think he is here to troll around for childish fun and try to promote his unseen blogsite.

One thing to remember about the Jim Jones cult was that he held regular "ceremonies" in which they pretended they were drinking poison kool aide - so when the real thing came about they were kind of numbed down to it.
Witnesses could probably be numbed into something like this too - given that they seemed to swallow this "generation overlap" idiocy along with 1975 hook line and sinker.
Like said above - most would react with horror if told to do something like this out of the blue; but with correct conditioning from the FDS, probably most anything would be willingly obeyed in time.
