but what happens to these kids?
Have you ever gone to one of these websites or called these charities? You might find your answer there a lot sooner than asking it here. Or Google it.
I think Broken Promises may have been questioning the complete integrity of these charities - doubt you will find anything negative about them on their own websites. Web search might reveal more. I too am skeptical of most highly advertised TV charities - just knowing human nature.

blantyre (malawi) - a malawian girl has declined a scholarship to study medicine at a chinese university over concerns that her religion is banned in the communist country, sponsors said on wednesday.. chikondi denemu, an 18-year-old jehovah's witness, turned down one of three full scholarships arranged by private radio station zodiak for students who excelled in their exams, station manager gospel kazako said.. ms denemu 'declined a golden chance of her lifetime because her parents were concerned that jehovah's witnesses are banned in china,' mr kazako told afp.
This is very sad, especially given the background of this young woman. I hope she changes her mind before its too late.
The saddest part is that - in Malawi - this may very well be the only chance like this she will get in life. I just hope she still has a mind of her own to change. Apparantly not at this time - she is being radio-controlled by the idiots in Brooklyn.
It was stated at my link that the Chinese government knew of the girl's religious affiliation, but found no fault with her being a JW.
Obviously. And let's think about it - the Chinese probably send tens of thousands of their students here, despite religious differences. This is about education, not religious issues.

Sylvia - isn't it also just a little more than ironic that the Chinese apparantly had no problem with this girl attending their university, but it was the New York City protected JW leadership that repressed her!
Watchtower leadership is more repressive and controlling than the communist Chinese...and they just cannot seem to keep their filthy hands off the people in Malawi.

some got re-instated, some left for good, i even know a few who were disfellowshipped more than once.
it may be even higher than that - certainly it is pretty common in jwland.. i know that other religions have a theoretical state of disfellowshipping - the catholics have excommunication, for example.
I have not asked her yet, anyone here dare to ask her?, she might give us some good answers.
How would she know? Is she an authority on JW demographics? I kind of lost respect for her when she answered a question from readers in that Parade column she writes - it was: "What food would you pick if you were in prison for life, and could only have one food item to eat?" She picked dog food.

To answer the original topic, (and to be honest) -
I have to ask that question about almost every single one of her posts.
It sounded like a nice welcome back thought, though...
something i've been thinking of.... god created humans in his image, yet it's possible for human's to sin, so therefore it's possible for god to sin right?.
the jw's will throw the, "but jehovah can never lie", but if it's possible for him to sin then it's possible for him to lie about not lying?

The very nature of philisophical questions like these get us to the crux of OUR beliefs and what they truly mean.
In this case the question is, truly, Can God sin> in other words, IF sin is going agianst the rules of God, can God break God's own rules? and if he can't, is he Omnipotent? and If God can't sin, how doe sone explain the acts attributed to God that are sinful if done by Man?
If God CAN sin, would he ever? and if Yes, does that Stop God from being God? and if Yes, how can God judge man for the "same" sin ?
Some have considered the irrationality of the above issues and concluded that the general Biblical idea of God is itself irrational.

Very interesting - so my guess at 15% was a little low; probably it is more like 20%...
Now, asking again - is there ANY other religion who has disfellowshipped such a large number of their own membership?
I would guess not. I would also think that this number is a shameful stat for JWs.
Of course, JW leadership would be proud of it - they are "keeping the congregation clean".
I say if the organization were really so clean, they would not need to DF this many.
