Bethel Brother for 15 years called to "head office" thought he was qoute: "Going to get fired."
by Witness 007 inhe's been there since the early 1980's and was called to the "head office" for the first time in 15 years!
i was told he crapped himself saying i qoute: "i thought they were going to fire me.
" instead he got a free trip to korea to represent our bethel during the next convention....a reward or bonus for his many years of service....the elder who told me about this said how "kind" bethel is to do this, but i just thought damn, the guys been getting $50 bucks a month pay for 15 years...at least send him to disneyland as well!.

Boyzone, THANK YOU. What you say is so true. I keep forgetting you don't need to be attached to any organisation or group to benefit from sound principles. The WTS influence is going to take a long time to be erased.
Don't be embarrassed by the question. She is 71 but as strong as an ox. There is no way she would ever doubt the Borg so I have to tread very carefully. I am begining to drops hints that I am emotionally exhausted and finding congregational responsibilities too much, this is paving the way for me to step down as an elder. I can start to fade from that point on.

Boyzone, very good point you make. It'll take a while for the WTS view of christendom to be eroded, so I can't see her investigating what other christain churches state and what morals they live by.
Farkel, as always straight to the point. I would agree with you entirely except I had saved my pension with a company called Equitable Life, If you live in the UK you will know what that means, basically I have no pension so the assets that my mother has (which BTW I helped manage on her behalf) will provide an income in our retirement.

Do you remember how I told you my sister almost got me d'ffed???
by cognac inwell, it's been a shocking turn of events around here... her ms husband just got publicly reproved and she's been out partying a lot without him.
and i mean going to clubs to dance with other evidently not so "spiritual" jws... i don't really know what's going on with her.
not sure what her motive is - depression, wanting to just live a life, or avoidance of what's happening???.

My Story
by ~Jen~ ini was raised a jw by very strict parents who, in my early teen years were physically and then later emotionally abusive all the while with my dad being and elder (and he still is).
i didn't want to be a jw then but my life was all about making my parents happy which started with me being baptized at 13. my parents constantly drilled into my head that most things were "bad" and i was "bad" i constantly did whatever i could to avoid being bad.
i had no life but then met a nice jw boy when i was 17. against my better judgement, i stayed with him and married him when i was 20. i didn't have a lot in common with him but he was really nice and was safe - he was a witness and even though i wanted to be in the world so bad i chose to be with him because he would keep me grounded, in the truth and away from where i really wanted to be because it was the right thing to do.. we were married for 7 years and have 3 sons.. for the past few years i've known that i did not want to be a jw even more and was sick of being fake.

Irony just came to my door
by twinkle toes ini was just downloading the 1969 awake article that proclaims the end is giong to be in a few years and youth should expect to not grow old.
as i was reading it i was reflecting on all the people who are around my age (mid 30's) who were not even born when this article came out.. then my dog started barking.
i looked out the window and seen a mini van group full of 30 something jdubs preparing to call on me.

Love the PINK FLOYD influence on this thread. I bought Animals in 1979 a couple of years after it came out, It was one the Albums my mum threw out (she didn't even hear Pigs - three different ones)
Back on topic. You should have made goat noises!
