one praying is holding his own hands
That brother need to be careful.... Holding ones own hand could lead to masturbation
i keep hearing this chatter regarding a new rule regarding the holding of your spouse's hand during a congregation prayer, which, i agree, would be ridiculous.
but where did this rumor start, or was it just some free-lancing elder expressing his own opinion, which escalated to this ripple effect that i see here?.
i haven't seen any less holding of hands at the kh i go to....

it's always seemed a bit odd to me that ray franz is the only gb member to have ever resigned, particularly for such a controversial religion.. we know from ray franz's books that there is often debate amongst the gb about new ideas sometimes introduced and often they are quite divided in their opinions.. i am not sure when the "governing body" officially began (wikipedia's explanation is messy) but it was quite a few decades ago.
there have been dozens of members of the gb since it's creation (does anyone know the exact total number?).
one would think that there would have been a few more disgruntled gb members over the years who would have resigned if the gb voted against some proposal they felt very strongly about.
If I had a job where I could be given almost godlike authority I wouldn't leave. Ray Franz was a man with real personal integrity, who was willing to risk all to expose an organisation that he knew was acting as a false prophet.
my sister was a pioneer for decades.
she loved the jehovah's witness religion with all her heart and nobody anywhere could have tried harder to live its teachings.
but now, finally .... she's washed her hands of the jehovah's witnesses once and for all.
Result! Wish her the best of luck from someone who is strating down the path she has traversed succesfully.
here is a scan from the dec 15 09 wt (study ed) with a graph of how a witness should apportion their time to remain joyful.. .
so according to this graph, to remain joyful a witness should spend 3 times as much of his waking hours in 'theocratic activities' as he should in secular work!
hopscotch.
Did I just say that? Of course they can

Cmon guys and gals it isn't a Pie chart it is a just a visual aid! The point being to get everything properly balanced. Not even the WTS can expect theocraptic activities to outweigh the day to day.
being a born-in i don't have much friends, in or out of the org., add to that the fact that i have been a stay at home mom for the last 4 years has made it even harder to meet anyone.
(i found out the truth about the wts shortly after deciding to stay home).

It really is NOT saying that married couples can not hold hands. It is discouraging embracing and communial hand holding / linking arms. I am not saying I agree with the direction, but too many people on here are saying that married couples are being stopped from holding hands during the prayer when they are not!
i've got one of those forever single friend.. he tries to be friends with every kind of "spiritual" sister out there.
they use him for gifts, rides, and paying their diner meals when the friends go out.. he's in his late 40's and has himself been used by 5 sisters in a 15 years span.. he says he's found a good one, but she goes to meetings and is studying the "troof".
his elders and nosybody acquantences have told him to lay off of her until she's baptized and then some (2-3 years for prooving herself in the lord) or else loose his priviliges.. i tried to nonchalantly telling him that was hogwash, but the pharasees have a grip on him.
