Your parents had your best interests at heart, even if they were misguided. Suing is not the solution. If they are still involved in a Cult do what you can to get them out.

Suing Parents for Cult Indoctrination
by jeanniebeanz inhas anyone ever heard of suing their parents for raising them as a member of a cult?.
kids sue their parents for other forms of abuse and courts take such lawsuits seriously.
do you think it would be possible to win a lawsuit brought because your parents chose to force you into a cult?.

If You Never Were A JW What Religion Do You Think You Would've Been In?
by minimus inmy family were all catholics.
i think i would've been one simply because i was raised in it and even if i didn't agree with everything, i would still be able to talk to my friends and family.. i would think i'd be a catholic in name only.
"religion" doesn't get me excited..

I would have had no interest in religion. For my mother it is an emotional crutch and it was superimposed upon me.

Question about how and when to share your views.
by paul from cleveland inif you had a close relative or friend that told you they were getting baptized as a jw, would you try to influence their decision or just let it go.
my sister told me recently that she is getting baptized.
i'm undecided about what to do... if anything.

Tell her. You would do whatever you could to save a stranger drowning i'm sure, so show the same level of commitment to your sister. You will lose her if she gets baptised and decides that you are a bad associate.

Never experienced shouting, but saw a fair bit of emotional bullying. If one elder disagreed with a majority he was made to feel that he was inhibiting the operation of the spirit.

it was really a post by alltimejeff on 10/1/2009 that got me thinking about this and i address a few things that he says here.
but i dont want to single him out because i really think that he is typical of many, and he did in fact apologize for his actions at the end of his post.
