New "apostate" here! Recent WT study- 'We may ask you to do something that may not understand' (basically- DO IT)

i will get to the big shocker that i read within the last year or two in a wt study article, so please bear with me... i am new to this forum and have been reading postings for several days now, and can relate totally to many of the issues that many ex-jw have.

i was raised "around" the truth and although my parents were never "dipped", they wouldn't allow us to celebrate holidays or stand for natl anthem (not that i care now).

so i basically had many of the pressures and stress that witness kids had growing up, but with no spiritual support, as we attended only a handful of meetings while my parents studied when i was 5or6.

How do I help my kids not buy into the JW thing?

but i'm married to a jw lady who is very dedicated to it all.

I don't know how old your children are, but if they can reason things out, give some things to reason on. Show them websites like this and freeminds.org. If your wife is studying with them, you should too. I would have loved to study crisis of conscience when I was a kid! Encourage them to celebrate Christmas and birthdays, allow them to socialise with kids at school, allowing them to go parties.

I was raised a witness by my mum, my dad didn't get a look in ,and fell for it hook, line and sinker, I didn't break free until I was 42. Don't let your kids end up wasting half their lives on a pack of lies.

can some elders or ex-elders or anyone help me!!

i haven't been to a meeting for at least 3years.

my wife and i have been married before and we have been married for about 9 months.

since we got married my wife has been going to the meetings to get reinstated (she wants to have a relationship with her kids and with mine as we have both had grandkids now).

Etna, you can still be disfellowshipped even if you do not meet with them. Just don't play their game. I don't know enough about you circumstances to ascertain if they have grounds to DF. Has you ex remarried, did she do so before you? (if she did you had scriptural grounds to remarry, and maybe you can tell them you didn't have sex before you married). You would be considered of unsound mind for marrying a df's person, but that is not a df'ing offence (it would be a marking offence). Have you been openly "apostate"? If you are DF'd would it make any difference to you?

i was going through some old photos today, i found one of myself when i was a devout jw.

it was really shocking!

i'm so thin, my cheeks are hollow, i'm as white as the wall behind me, i'm standing hunched over, and in my eyes you can see real misery.

well, it seems like that the holy spirit is making its first mistake!

they want to appoint me as a ministrial servant!

i wonder if that means that apostasy while being apointed as a ms is okay?!

Decline, you will be compromising your values. i couldn't go on as an Elder, I was worried about following their rules.

Nov.15th WT - Treasure your Place in Congregation- "Obey the Slave Class! "

once again the extremely controlling measures taken by the wt society are evident in the "witness only " nov.15th wt article " treasure your place in the congregation ".

as time goes on the governing body keeps pushing the thought into witnesses minds that the " faithful & discreet slave " is the boss , god, main enchilada , the one through whom rank and file witnesses must answer to in order for jehovah to approve them.

so strap your seat belts on: this should be interesting.. under the subheading " cherish our place- how ?
