i know i've seen reference to the un ngo listing document somewhere.
as i recall, the '2002' edition was published before the wtbts withdrew from the un, such that they were still listed in it.
now, my family (all good jws) are insisting we come over for my mom's anniversary and i'm, like, 100% sure they are planning on bringing up our recent very obviously anti-jw behavior.

to my friends who do not post here,.
"along with the missionaries, these now literate witnesses rejoice.
because they can now use their ability to read and write to honor jehovah.".
Oh good SYN,
I thought it was only me that lost my secret decoder ring!!! :-)
Care to translate, IW?
.
....due out in june of 2011. this is what it will boil down to in another nine years imo.
.
Hey, if you print out a few thousand of these, slip them into the convention, and start passing them out I'd bet you'd have witnesses sign them without even reading them :-)
Just think of the lives you'd be saving <hehehe>
.
bbc central news have reported that james barrat , an elder in rugby congregation has received a two year sentence for abusing two teenage boys over a ten year period.. the abuse took place at bible studies .. the judge called him an "arch hypocrite".
the police said he is "extremely dangerous" and one of the victims , now in early 20's,gave an interview and said "do not bother with the elders, go straight to the police
Yes, stinks huh? And then they wonder why people don't have faith in the criminal justice system ...
Agreed, it isn't much better on the other side of the pond, either.. But, at least the justice system did act, my guess, he's still a JW, and will be the only active JW elder in his new congregation, a UK prison.. Just think of the power he can wield in there!!!!
I would really like to find out if he's been DF'd or not!!! Maybe Silentlambs can find out for us, or maybe it will be on your Panorama show!!!! Let us on this side of the Atlantic know, will ya :-)
in janh's brillant post today: http://www.jehovahs-witness.com/forum/thread.asp?id=31893&site=3 .
he mentioned that the jw's use to believe in the rapture of the saints, a belief commonly held by some mainstream christian sects.
i started to wonder "why and when did they change that belief" and "what other beliefs were held by jw's that were held by other christians, but have now completely changed?
Interestingly enough, I've never been a JW either, but if the JW's still believed what they believed back before Rutherford's time (Minus the pyramidology crap) I probably would have joined!!! It sounded like they were sincere people reading the bible... Obviously, they've come a long way baby, lotta steps backwards from their roots!!! The light is getting darker and darker all the time!!!

Xander,
I believe f you call the office of DPI at the UN, and ask them, I believe they will voice confirm with you that they were indeed a member of the UN (NGO) from 1992 to 2001, and that they were 'disassociated at their request in Oct, 2001".. At least they did back in Nov, 2001.. Maybe they won't confirm that over the phone any longer, I don't know.. But I suspect that they still would!!!
did the 1914 generation die anyway?
ver since the beginning of the watchtower movement, they have had some sort of deadline for god's activities.these activities could be the rapture of the saints (which jws today do not believe in), the destruction of "false religion", ie every other religious group, or the final end of this world.
earlier, these deadlines were explicit dates.
It's like the Society can cause a reboot in peoples brains so they forget old 'truth' and replace it with new 'truth'.
Too bad their brains couldn't get automatice Virus protection, and just not accept the reboot!!!
McAfee virus warning: You've been exposed to the JW/blinkingLight virus: Choose your option:
(Abort download) (shutdown) (continue anyway) (disable virus protection) (short out brain cells that cause dissention) (stand up for what you know is BS)
ROFL!

The insurance industry in the USA and many western nations treat 95 or 99 years of age as statistically at the end of human life. So, if I buy a life insurance policy at age 30, then when I reach 95 in the USA, the insurance company will pay out my policy to me as though I died. This is not to say that all 95 year old people are expected to be dead, but the few that remian do not make up a viable, insurable generation.
Quick, someone tell the GB.. They can issue "new" used light, and go back to their previous definition of Generation, and start all over at the year 2013 or so!!
(sigh).. Sadly enough, if that started showing up in print from them, I would not be the least bit surprised...

"Brothers, in the handbook published by the Insurance Industry of a well known country, they define the term generation as being 95-99 years of age. We feel this is very relavent to our current day, as we all know, the average life span of humans throughout bible history has varied greatly, from 969 years for Methuselah to as little as 30-40 years during Jesus' time. It is now evident from reliable sources, and backed up by bible chronology that the life span of the generation Jesus was talking about HAD to be 95-99 years. From bible scripture, we have more evidence today than even Noah had in his day that 1914 was the beginning of the time to the end. We have bible chronology to support the reliable interpretation that the generational span would be 95-99 years, coupled with the beginning of the last days starting in 1914, and we can clearly see that bible chronology supports the battle of Armageddon happening sometime between now and 2013. Yes, my friends, Armageddon is not far away. Stay vigilent in these last days, as Satan is well aware that his time is drawing to a rapid close, and will become even more devious and deceptive in trying to draw us away from Jehovah in these final months before the battle begins!"

if there is no aging in paradise earth, expail something to me.. one of the reasons we age and die is because the mitochondrial cells convert items(food???
) into energy, this produces free radicals/toxins which damage the cells, the cells have to produce these toxins to do their work.. in a paradise earth, how will the body produce the energy without damaging the body's cells.. i am interested in any answers.. .
SILLY!Obviously, we will be 'restored' to our original silicon-based condition instead of the current carbon-based lifeforms everything is that needs corrosive oxygen to survive.
DUH!
Hey, a Horta! I wonder if we'll start tunneling through rock <G> (Sorry, Star Trek humor)
