the lesson in the parable is for the slave, to behave right and responsible, not like the evil slave a few verses later.
The WTS turned it into a lesson for the "household" to obey the slave !!!
it seems as though at least one article in every issue of the study watchtower is devoted to reinforcing the governing body's authority.
this from pargraph 10:.
10 christ provides loving oversight of his congregations on earth by means of appointed elders.

we visited another congo this weekend, and the WTS conductor was just realy ridiculous.
at least 5 times he stressed how important it is to obey the governing body !! (compared to 2 times mentioning to obey jesus and jehova)
this was not even directly mentioned in the artcile, but he thought it important to brng it out time and again, really annoying.
even my wife, who still is fully in, was annoyed !
was hard to sit though this self worship article of the brooklyn guys...
when i ask my jw friend if she has read various classic books, she says, "i don't like to read.
" however, she of course reads all the wt stuff.
i don't know too many jw's, but the ones i have seen in the meetings seem mostly uneducated and, even when speaking from the platform, seem almost illiterate - that is, unable to pronounce certain words even in the wt literature.
it depends, mayn i know read other books, from science to fantasy, others again reply, they have no time, because they are soo busy with jehovahs work (and it gives their self confidence a real boost, when they say it)
every wt magazine has at least one article that asks this question at the end of one of the study articles.
sometimes these questions are in the books such as this week's book study.
they spiced it up a little bit for this book study though.
funny thread, sure I did when I was a kid, now I barley answer directly to the question, try to give dome brain in it...of course, eve a little brain means a lot for a such a repetition course...
I remember, our WT conductor, one of the brighter JW you may find, got in trouble with other elders, for not turning the study into a stupid question - repeat from paragraph session. Sometimes he still doesnt listen, and digs deeper, which makes it a bit more interesting...
I would say: Joseph F. Rutherford
my first post here.
i wrote this little article about why jws don't celebrate thanksgiving.. check it out here: http://hubpages.com/hub/what-jehovahs-witnesses-believe.
let me know what you think of it.. god bless.
one explanation I got:
thanksgiving goes back to the pilgrims in america, where they often killed poor Indians, thats why we dont celebrate it....seriously, that was the only explanation
almost the same BS as with birthdays, toasting etc....
andre, who had served jehovah for years, had the bitter experience of being led astray.
by apostate thinking.
he felt that having a quick look at an apostate web site would not be dangerous.he recalls: initially, i was attracted to the so-called truths that the.
this article is not for those, who read regular apostate sites, even the WTS knows, that they are lost
it is for those, who are curious (which may backfire though) and for those, who stumble at apostate sites, read a few lines and are confused. They may actually believe this experience and take it as excuse, not to think further, and bury all mind troubles, and continue following blindly the GB. because anything, that may cause doubts, is just something taken out of context.
For an active, even occasional doubting JW, anything apostate is soo demonized, he would never consider reading apostate stuff. This article is designed to reinforce this thinking and to add the notion, that it is useless anyway, and it would be just an unnecessary detour on the quest for truth.
first off, forgive me if i'm guilty of being judgemental.
i got my own fair share of mental problems.
it goes without saying that a bunch of us on this forum are misfits and freaks.
very good post MLE !!
I thought about it before too.
Its difficult to measure a person just by their posts, to determine, whether somebody is nuts or normal (at least to some reasonable extent).
It needs more, behaviour, face expressions, gestures, tone of voice etc...
Im also very much with baltar447, agreeing still on many main doctrines of JW, but getting more and more pissed off for the Pharisaic rulership they have...
since my personal sitaution does not allow to talk with anybody as open as here, I still come and enjoy the forum, learn from comments and participate sometimes in debates.
randy/dogpatch has posted some interesting material about troubles in the organization.
this info generated a lot of skepticism about the possibility of watchtower fragmentation.
frankly, it is very easy to be skeptical considering everything that ordinary witnesses are willing to believe or put up with.. i think it would be useful to realistically consider what sort of event(s) would bring the watchtower down or cause its fragmentation?
as long as there are people who "need" an org to tell them what to do, it will never be brought down,
I agree with wobble, with more ducation and information available, sooner or later numbers will shrink, but still, there are those who need the org. Even now, almost half of publishers are weird people, who will always deny the facts, and defend the org at any cost, just because it is their mother, their "where else should we go"
as much as I would ike a finish for the WTS, it will not happen soon....
hm, actually in my congo, most of the weird ones are not elders, and we have many weird ones,...in fact, being not weird is one of the requirements here to become an elder,
however, the more I learned the truth about the truth, the more any JW seems weird to me, even me sometimes....
isnt that weird ?
