so true, worst nightmare, always tried to avoid territiories where I knew schoolmates were living. Luckily I never ran into one.
Later at work, same fear regarding work colleagues...
the latest video release 4/4/22 (lesson 44 'don't give up') in the comic series of caleb & sophia just got weirder.
the plot is about caleb & sophia preaching door to door, caleb with his father and sophia with her mother.
it shows each of them having doors slammed on them four times.
so true, worst nightmare, always tried to avoid territiories where I knew schoolmates were living. Luckily I never ran into one.

what do people usually think of when they buy a house?
"i will probably live here for a long time" (you're invested with your time), "i will save money by building equity over time".
(you've invested in yourself financially for the long run) of course, i wouldn't be able to list the numerous reasons why people want to buy a house.
Where I grew up, and in the eighties, building or buying a house was considered as sign of spiritual weakness. Our tyrannical PO at that time, often judged others who did so, as being close to falling away from the truth.
Until some years later, his own daughter started building a new house with her husband. Narrative changed, suddenly, this was necessary, because "they could not find an adequate rental place"....hypocrite...
I have the feeling, its not so much looked down upon anymore as it was back then...
14 jesus provides wise direction in times of crisis.
the benefits of that direction were evident when the covid-19 pandemic broke out.
while many in the world were uncertain about what course to take, jesus made sure that we received clear guidance to keep us safe.
agree, the org always tries to take credit for anything positive.
small remark: UN is the wild beast, not the whore, which is babylon the Great
i remember one of the flowchart responses to people questioning the biblical flood was something along the lines that "every culture has a flood story".. of course, nearly everywhere has flooded at one time or another and we know there are minor floods and then there are the 1-in-1000 year kind of weather event, that tend to get a mention (anyone from the uk will still talk about the summer of '76, and that's probably nothing in comparison to a decent flood).. but the inference is that the flood must be real, because every culture has a flood story.. the best response is "now do dragons".. because apparently, nearly every culture also has a dragon legend.. does it mean dragons exist?
some desperate jw may show their ignorance by suggesting that man lived at the same time as dinosaurs and they are what the stories were based on.
fun fact: stegosaurus was a fossil when t-rex was alive for longer than it's been since t-rex has been a fossil to us - we're talking old, and no overlap (ignore the map in the cover of the old green bible).. do jws still even bother trying to defend the cray-cray aesop-fable kind of ot beliefs?.
good point with the dragons, ...
we watched the season 1 finale of this apple tv series last night.
what an amazingly well-done show!.
it's a surreal world, but based in our own, and you don't have a clue where the plot is really headed but the drama builds all the way through.. there were some major reveals about the characters and it ended on a peach of a cliffhanger, so if there isn't a series 2 already in production i'll be storming apple hq to ask why.. some of it may give you wts vibes, the cult-like world they live in and the "forced" celebrations for various things, but while some of it is a little "sci-fi" it's kind of believable.. in case you don't know the main premise is that it follows people around their work at a company with a very sterile-like environment.
excellent show, waiting for season finale this friday...when we started watching, I couldn`t wrap my mind around it, so weird and so good...
yesterdays wt study (wt january 2022) stressed the issue, to set aside time to deepen the relationship to god.. in order to strengthen one`s faith, it was encouraged to ask god anytime for basically anything.
and each time god answers your prayers the faith grows.. now, each one of us has wishes, desires, hopes.
some naturally will fail, some will come true.

In order to strengthen one`s faith, it was encouraged to ask God anytime for basically anything. And each time God answers your prayers the faith grows.
Now, each one of us has wishes, desires, hopes. Some naturally will fail, some will come true. If I just present these to anyone, lets say the Jewish god, or Thor or Zeus, I could convince myself of their existence and support.
On a side note, Jw always claim, that there are no modern miracles. So how would you define divine intervention in ones personal life?
jws believe that today, the time we live in is the worst time ever in history.
i know cause i just had a jw tell me yesterday this was the case.
he pointed to covid, the russian-ukraine war, the high gas prices and the food shortage happening.
If you are living right now in Ukraine, maybe yes, its probably the worst year at least in your lifetime. Globally speaking though, there were still plenty of worst years in history.
Seen the video a while ago, found it very interesting too.
good morning,.
when it comes to the question of free will, any jw will ascertain the existence of free will as needed for any moral issue regarding god, the bible etc.
without free will the whole foundation of what their belief is based on will collapse.. now atheists, at least thats my understanding, deny also the existence of free will.
Good morning,
when it comes to the question of free will, any JW will ascertain the existence of free will as needed for any moral issue regarding God, the bible etc. Without free will the whole foundation of what their belief is based on will collapse.
Now atheists, at least thats my understanding, deny also the existence of free will. If everything is just governed by natural laws, then it will follow its course, there is no superiorty of human conscience, as it followed just the evolving species, and may only be an illusion, and one knowing a current state is able to predict the future (Demon of Laplace).
One example of a scientists viewpoint:
You don't have free will, but don't worry. - YouTube
Now JW agree with atheist in one matter, that there is no soul surviving human death, humans are only made of "dust". So if humans are only made of atoms and moleculs, which are subject to laws of Physics, were is the free will located then?
A dilemma even for some PIMI witnesses I talked to (at least the thinkers among them).
Also quantum physics do not provide a way out, since unpredictability does not equate free will.
What are your ideas?
2022-02-17-- watchtower defense manuals on the loss of state support in norway.. .
the english manual is 32 pages long and the norwegian manual is 40 pages long.
both manuals are in this file folder.. .
57. The congregation has no control over how the individual in the congregation applies biblical principles to stop associating with him. It is up to each individual in the congregation to use their personal religious conscience to determine whether or not they want to limit contact with a person who has withdrawn, just as they would relate to a person who is disfellowshipped. The religious community does not control, nor can it control, whether those who belong to congregations answer calls from someone who has withdrawn, drink coffee with them, eat a meal with them, or greet them on the street. Each individual in the congregation who limits or ceases to socialize a person who has withdrawn, does so voluntarily and of his own volition, based on their own religious conscience.
This is an outright lie, hope they don`t get away with it. Somebody send them a copy of the Shepherding book, where it clearly states, that if you have association with someone dfd, who is not your relative, you get a JC and possible dfd yourself.
It really puzzles me how someone being a JW (assuming this was written at least with agreement of a JW) outspokenly tells untruth like that. Its not like, well ambigous, or matter of interpretation, this is clearly false. What kind of conscience do those people have ?
has anyone heard any word on active witnesses inside the ukraine and what has been happening with them the last week or so?
i checked the official org website but there was just the expected "fulfilling bible prophecy" stuff.
perhaps someone here has bethel contacts who have leaked some info on what the gb is trying to do for these victims of putin's madness?.
For JW (not only them) its very simple: Anything positive = Gods blessing, anything negative = Satans attack..
anyway, JW or not, I feel for the innocent people in Ukraine...and hope death and suffering will end soon for them,, but I fear different...
