Reading sometimes through older literatur, they used much more words, more sophisticated language, but once you digested it, you realize, it was the same nonsense, sometimes even worse than now...

excellent, the morons at head quarter have to get used to uncomfortable questions from well informed legal departments.
Typical example of double speak and hypocrisy.
Sad thing, most JW would not be bothered learning about it, because they buy into this "Satan against us" ideology, therefore in spirtual warfare any weapon is sanctified. Sad really...

How far do we get away from 1914
by PimoElder inhow far do we get away from 1914 before they have a new light and admit it was all wrong?.
they cling to the old theory of the 77 week prophecy from the wrong date that jerusalem was destroyed .
with the overlapping generations nonsense still we are getting too far away from 1914. what will they say if we get to the 2030s and they still cling to 1914?.

"No problem. The date for the beginning of the Great War is problematic for certainly, the assassination took place long before other nations gradually became embroiled in the conflict so the timing of the month of October well coincides with the end of the Gentile Times, the birth of the messianic Kingdom with the ousting of Satan to the earth.
scholar JW"
No
You are moving the goal posts. It is true, that the war declaration followed gradually after 28.7.14, however, accoring to JW theology, it was Satan inciting them to do so, after his expelling from heaven. If he was expelled October 1914, what was his job when the whole world was already in conflict? The typical trench warfare began already in September 1914...the chain reaction of Alliances, formed decades earlier, started to cascade already.

One can endure many things, depending on the reason for doing so.
I know, if I come out as non-beleiver, it would severe the ties to my family, and might even literally (really) kill my older parents.
I imagine the situation like being held hostage, I may be able to eascape, but I would have to leave beind loved ones, who are simply not able to run that fast anymore (figuratively speaking)
Suffering is awful, but for a good cause, and knowing its only temporary, one may be able to find some comfort in it.

Caleb & Sophia - The Watchtower gets weirder
by Listener inthe latest video release 4/4/22 (lesson 44 'don't give up') in the comic series of caleb & sophia just got weirder.
the plot is about caleb & sophia preaching door to door, caleb with his father and sophia with her mother.
it shows each of them having doors slammed on them four times.

What are Jehovah's Witnesses' stance on home ownership?
by timothytha inwhat do people usually think of when they buy a house?
"i will probably live here for a long time" (you're invested with your time), "i will save money by building equity over time".
(you've invested in yourself financially for the long run) of course, i wouldn't be able to list the numerous reasons why people want to buy a house.

Where I grew up, and in the eighties, building or buying a house was considered as sign of spiritual weakness. Our tyrannical PO at that time, often judged others who did so, as being close to falling away from the truth.
Until some years later, his own daughter started building a new house with her husband. Narrative changed, suddenly, this was necessary, because "they could not find an adequate rental place"....hypocrite...
I have the feeling, its not so much looked down upon anymore as it was back then...

Watchtower Jul 22 - Jesus directed the GB on how to deal with Covid
by Listener in14 jesus provides wise direction in times of crisis.
the benefits of that direction were evident when the covid-19 pandemic broke out.
while many in the world were uncertain about what course to take, jesus made sure that we received clear guidance to keep us safe.

Response to "The Flood is Real, Because ..."
by Simon ini remember one of the flowchart responses to people questioning the biblical flood was something along the lines that "every culture has a flood story".. of course, nearly everywhere has flooded at one time or another and we know there are minor floods and then there are the 1-in-1000 year kind of weather event, that tend to get a mention (anyone from the uk will still talk about the summer of '76, and that's probably nothing in comparison to a decent flood).. but the inference is that the flood must be real, because every culture has a flood story.. the best response is "now do dragons".. because apparently, nearly every culture also has a dragon legend.. does it mean dragons exist?
some desperate jw may show their ignorance by suggesting that man lived at the same time as dinosaurs and they are what the stories were based on.
fun fact: stegosaurus was a fossil when t-rex was alive for longer than it's been since t-rex has been a fossil to us - we're talking old, and no overlap (ignore the map in the cover of the old green bible).. do jws still even bother trying to defend the cray-cray aesop-fable kind of ot beliefs?.

Severance TV Show
by Simon inwe watched the season 1 finale of this apple tv series last night.
what an amazingly well-done show!.
it's a surreal world, but based in our own, and you don't have a clue where the plot is really headed but the drama builds all the way through.. there were some major reveals about the characters and it ended on a peach of a cliffhanger, so if there isn't a series 2 already in production i'll be storming apple hq to ask why.. some of it may give you wts vibes, the cult-like world they live in and the "forced" celebrations for various things, but while some of it is a little "sci-fi" it's kind of believable.. in case you don't know the main premise is that it follows people around their work at a company with a very sterile-like environment.
