That is one huge cause of sorrow - most JWs in their late teens and 20s who have been raised in the organization do not have any of their childhood friends left. It is a lonely feeling to have no one to share memories with.

One Question on UN
by ItsJustMe inhas the information on jws belonging to the un been in any news publications?
i casually brought the issue up to my husband, but he laughed and said that of course jws don't belong to the un as it is the wild beast.
i would like to show him proof, but we all know i can't show him anything i found online.. anyone?

genealogical records destroyed in AD70?
by Moxy ini was reading about genetics and genealogy and got to wondering about the claims of genealogy that the wt makes.
doesnt it seem odd that when faced with the recorded genealogy of jesus in the gospels which obviously skips several generations, the wt says that the genealogy was so well-known to the jews that a writer could take some liberties with the lists because the reader would be familiar enough with it to fill in certain details?
also, the author of the genealogy could not afford to make the slightest mistake because the readers were so familiar with the genealogy and because anybody could, on a whim, go check the all-important master records kept in the temple.. but, on the other hand, when the romans sacked jerusalem suddenly this information that was so well-known that it barely required telling in detail was suddenly lost for all time.. as with all of these ultra-simplistic explanations, i just went along and hadnt really thought too much about it but now looking back, i knew something funny must be going on.

What the UN thing means to me
by joelbear ini have thought from the beginning that the un thing was being way overblown in terms of importance and have said so here.. but, you know what, it is a big deal.
the watchtower society is taking the easy way out of the situation by "using" the un rather than standing firm in their beliefs and relying on jehovah for assistance.
i feel the same way about the un membership that i did about the lawsuit with swaggart and the krishnas.

Just curious about your opinion. I agree that Jesus taught us to love, but there are scriptures (i.e. the Proverbs one quoted) that tell us to hate.
In no way shape or form trying to have a watchtower study. In a real watchtower study I can't ask any questions.
