When I brought up the subject, they just tell me that the change is very logical. It just amazes me how they can never be wrong.

So what do your Jehovah's Witness friends and loved ones think of the generation teaching?
by garyneal inafter the little skit at the last assembly where one brother was asking another for understanding about the generation teaching i thought, "wow, these people will believe anything the watchtower tells them.
" the 'more mature brother' practically said verbatim everything the watchtower said as his explanation.
evidently, this is one of the sources of the increased 'murmuring' that the talked warned against.. so, has anyone brought this up to their witness friends and/or family?

When Rutherford gave the talk, "Millions Now Living Will Never Die", he was talking about the overlapping generation according to the new understanding.

Biting off more than they can chew - why I think the Society's internet approach is good for us, bad for them...
by cedars ini've been giving some thought to the society's latest decision to reduce the size of the awake, and relaunch jw.org as a revamped site - intended for bringing in yet more converts.
for those who missed it, here is the relevant part of the leaked letter to elders discussing these changes.... the internet is a technology that jehovahs organization is using to good advantage to spread the good news to all corners of the earth.
consider the impact our web sites are having.

I think the WTS is reading the writing on the wall that the newspapers see. People are not interested in reading paper newspapers and magazines as in the past. Many newspapers and magazines are now on the internet. One problem the secular publishers face is generating money, so how will the WTS collect from those who use their website.
I feel that the idea that the WTS is encouraging ones to go to their website is not a sign of their downfall. It only shows the changing of our times to access information using the internet.

Why doesn't the WT close the religion?
by Aussie Oz ini was pondering the other day, why the watchtower corporation doesn't just sell off all the kingdom halls and hang the jws out to dry seeing they make far more $$$ from business than peddling the religion these days.. then it dawned on me... they need to keep that little sideline going for the tax breaks!.
slow learner i guess.. oz .

Timing of "thinner magazines" announcement
by sir82 inthe announcement of the reduced number of pages in the watchtower & awake will be made after the watchtower study following the "special talk" on april 8.. theoretically, that's when there will be more visitors and "outsiders" than usual.
even the talk itself has 1/2 of its content directed at inactive jws.. obviously this reduction in pages has been in the works for several weeks if not months.
why pick that date to announce it?

Good, less reading for those who want to read such material. They emphasize to be brief at the doors, now they can advertise that the magazines are now with fewer pages and is brief. The householder certainly has the time now to read these condensed magazines.

Anybody here vegan?
by Dagney ini've been considering it for awhile strictly for just general overall health.
i don't take any meds, and would like to keep it that way for as long as i can.
i am a "all things in moderation " type of person but the more i read about excluding dairy and meat, the more i think about doing it.

More June 12 Awake! goodness...
by undercover inso... according to the wts, adam was created a little over 6,000 years ago.
after being created he was given the task of naming all the animals.
then eve was created, a talking snake got them to eat some fruit and the rest is history.... anyway.... how long did it take adam to name all the animals before the fairer sex was brought to him, undoubtedly distracting him from the heavenly chore set before him?.

Wow that is very interesting. Hence based on the 6,000 years of Adam (1975 WTS prediction) and this Awake comment , the end will come after more than 1,000 more years.

Advertisement on back of June Awake
by SweetBabyCheezits inhere are two uplifting quotes from the latest awake that show the happiness one might enjoy as a member of god's spirit-directed organization:.
the illustration on that page showed me that my progress is noticed by god.
this book made me realize that i can make my prayers more specific and ask god to help me with my feelings of worthlessness.

Attended 2-Day Circuit Assembly--Highlights
by Cadellin insince my spouse is an active elder, i accompany him to sads, cas and das, at least for the time being.
anyway, i thought i'd share some of the more odd/disturbing bits from the latest "sanctify god's name" ca.
there wasn't anything particularly new but the tone toward porn, higher ed, bad assoc, "habitual" murmuring and harmful gossip is definitely hardening, as are the cautions against social networking.

Thanks for the review of the circuit assembly. It just amazes me how the WTS can explain nothing substantial to a doubter about the new generation explaination and it now becomes clear to the doubter what the WTS really means. The first time I took my vacation and used it to work with the circuit overseer in field service, the co stabbed me in the back with the other elders. I never worked with the co or used my vacation for field service after that.
