When I was in my early twenties, I was definitely a wannabee elder and mini servant. I wanted to handle any and all priviledges thrown at me. When I reached my forties and was an elder for 10 years, I saw that being a servant was not that wonderful. Though the WTS stated how the servants are so appreciated, the servants are really an unappreciated clan in the cong. Only the servants feel that they are somebody. When I was removed as an elder, I saw that what I did as a servant really made no difference to anybody. What a waste of my time and effort it all was.

Wanabee Elders & Ministerial Servants
by minimus inthere were a lot of wannabee elders and ministerial servants in the congregations.
if you were a male and baptized, it was expected that you "reach out".
everyone wanted to have a position.. wives and mothers of men wanted representation too.

JW New Bible
by JW GoneBad inthere's a lot of rumble in the grapevine of jws that there difinitely is a new bible that 'mother' is releasing at the upcoming agm.. it would be awesome if we could get a sneak peek at some of the changes.
sure would be nice if some of the lurkers on this forum who work at bethel in the writing, shipping or printing department could help us out.
this would really irritate 'mom'!.

It seems logical that the GB would release a new Bible at their annual meeting. After all, most jws expect something new and revealing at the annual meeting such as last year's explanation of the faithful and discreet slave. If they have nothing new to clarify, then a new Bible would be greeted by the flock.

Reinstatement Rescinded?!?!?
by DATA-DOG ini heard an announcement some time ago, " [ insert name's ] reinstatement has been rescinded and is no longer one of jehovah's witnesses.
" has anyone ever heard of such a thing?
elders, have you ever done this?

I have know of the WTS declining a reinstatement because the elders were to fast to reinstate a person. Lets say this is the 2nd disfellowshipping for the same offense and now the elders are going to reinstate the person after 3 months of being disfellowshipped.

my first post and some questions
by wallievase inthis is my first post after deciding to finally open an account here after months of 'lurking'.. a couple of issues i want to address-.
i have issues with people who go from being a witness to losing all faith in god or the bible which seems to be the case with some members of this site.
i just don't think you can let any religion change how you view god or the bible.. second-i don't feel the gb are bad people, i think most witnesses including them are misguided by something that has been drilled into their heads since they were little and are actually sincere people.

The nice thing about this forum, is there is a well rounded group of participants. Some may believe in God and religion, others may not. Some may be outright opposed to the WTS and others just question various beliefs.
As for the GB, I agree with Londo111. A jw is taught to believe only in the WTS teachings. Therefore the GB is central to this teaching.

Well I gotta go......
by punkofnice in...i might drop in every now and then but i hope you all enjoy life, escape the watchtower(r) and live prosperous lives.. i can't say i contribute much here anyway (and i'm not attention seeking).. i'm just going to get on with life away from the constant reminder of the mistakes i made being a jw zombie drone.. i guess i'm just going to fade.......rather quickly.. of course i didn't need to make any posts here to disappear but i thought it'd be polite and very british to bid you all a fond farewell.. see you all sometime.....maybe.....maybe not.....maybe....... bye!.
ps.
don't pm me as i won't be checking the pms.. .

Why do the GB need a new Bethel compound if the end is so close? Here is the "official" answer
by sir82 inas most of us know, the society is spending 10's of millions of dollars on a giant, state of the art, secluded bunker country club headquarters in very remote, isolated warwick ny.. the question that "some" have is, why?
if armageddon is coming "very soon", why go to all that time & effort & expense?
why have thousands of jws dedicating their time to this massive effort instead of the "lifesaving ministry"?.

What a smart decision by the GB. They are not only making bundles of money through contributions, but the sales of the Brooklyn property have also brought in lots of money. They just can't sit on this money, no, they must build, build, build.
